"Rev.Wright epitomizes the thoughts and actions that have prevented and continue to prevent black America from moving ahead and achieving their potential as a people. He suggests that this United States of America made up of sons and daughters of immigrants (I'm talking of the millions of 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation immigrants in this country) of every race, creed, color and religion each and everyone of them who had nothing to do with slavery, somehow owe something to a group of people who have never been slaves? It's amazing. It seems everyone is to blame for the shambles black society is in with its violence, drugs, high school drop-out rates, misogyny, and a host of other real and virulent problems, except for the very people who engage in such behavior.

Enough. As a society, culture or people, they should look within themselves and fix their problems.

When did this man become the spokesman for the 'black church'? And of course his church is different, but that doesn't mean his message and philosophy is acceptable, or productive or non-offensive or not-racist or indicative or our greater cultural behaviors, values and norms as Americans.

And yes, the link between this man and Obama really does matter. At a very minimum, it provides insight into the political and philosophical strain that Obama adheres to."

A Timely Comment On The WSJ Blog About Reverend Jeremiah Wright

This entry has not been authentically proven to be a post by the "Bill Cosby" that we all know - and respect (at least some of us).

I read the article and then assumed that the poster had to be a registered subscriber - as I am and thus the name was more valid than it actually is in real life. Who cares who says it, the comment speaks the truth.

This author believes that we also need to think about his connections with the Hamas Terriorist Group. Hamas just bailed his business partner out of jail and endorses Obama. Oprah needs a shout out - Wake Up Oprah- Who's agenda is he really on- don't listen to the words of Obama but watch his actions past and present. My mother always had a saying that use to grind on my ears but yet rains so true.."Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are">>> Wake Up America before it's too late!!!

Anyone who comes to the defense of Rev Wright is so wrong, they should be forced to live in a third world country with him.

Mary - it is unknown whether this was the Bill Cosby, the entertainer, or, some other Bill Cosby, or, some one blogging as Bill Cosby.

On the date the blog was posted, the Bill Cosby, entertainer and philosopher, was giving his support to a Judge in Atlanta that had removed all non-African Americans from a courtroom so that he could privately admonish some black defendants. To my knowledge, he has neither confirmed nor denied these comments, although, he has not been known to be a political blogger, usually using his "celebrity pulpit" to editorialize.

Yeah I caught that, It doesn't matter who spoke it unless you have a race issue, It speaks volumes for the truth of the matter.

Thanks for the post! Surely the voters will wake up before it is too late!

Even if Mr. Cosby did not write it, the point is made.

I don't know who made the comment but it was a good comment.

It certainly sounds like Bill Cosby and if you are Bill Cosby and these aren't your words, then we would all be hearing about it I'm sure.

I does sound like Cosby to me, but as others have said no matter who said it it's true.

It is such a good point, too bad it only carrys more wieght if it is a celebrity. Maybe some celebrity will take these words and use it to get the point across.

Cosby has been sending out some mixed messages over recent years. I consider Cosby to be a racist despite his statements which make him look to be conservative. I know of instances where Cosby has been very racist against whites. Of course, the media will never report this.

Mike Postell - exactly what racist remarks has he made?

While living in Cincinnati, I know of a corporate event Cosby was supposed to entertain in given by a very large corporation in Cincinnati. He threw a total hissy fit and threatened to cancel the event because he wanted an ALL BLACK choral group and not the one that was scheduled to sing. Can you imagine the outcry if a white entertainer demanded an all white choir?

Also, do you remember the Cosby Show? Not exactly a who's who of white actors. It's okay to exclude whites because that is politically correct.

Obama seems to have seen, early in his career, the utility of joining a prominent church that would help him establish political roots in the community in which he lives. Now he sees the utility of distancing himself from that church. Obama's behavior in dealing with Wright is consistent with that of a politician who often voted "present" in the Illinois State Legislature for the sake of his future political viability.

The more you learn about him, the more Obama seems to be a conventionally opportunistic politician, impressively smart and disciplined, who has put together a good political career and a terrific presidential campaign. But there's not much audacity of hope there. There's the calculation of ambition, and the construction of artifice, mixed in with a dash of deceit - all covered over with the great conceit that this campaign, and this candidate, are different.
