What is your back up plan after Real Estate.

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Hamm Homes

Last week, I was in Pennsylvania to see family and attend a reunion.  It as a great time and I got to help my niece on her chicken farm,  She has two barns and  36000 chicken in each barn.  she is building a third barn that is due to be finish the first week in December.  The chicken can not sit for long periods of time.  I have 3 teaches to teach me how to work chicken walking.  All 3 has a difference way of doing it.  My great niece fool me and said we need to put them on a leash and walk them around the out side of the barn (she gets her humor from me she said).

They are mailing my my certificate that I can have a back up plan if ever I move back there.

I am so proud of her and her family, true American farmers

Not sure I'd make it as a chicken farmer. They are a lot of work - as you discovered. Lol.

Glad you enjoyed your visit.  My plan won't be on a chicken farm.  Retirement will be my next move.

Good mornng, Will Hamm I'm working my scaling down plan!!!! it's my pre-exit plan.... I'm not in the office; I don't work clients; I market and make my own plan and hours.... there's plenty of time for me to participate in those things that I have a passion for.... and that includes participating at the local hospital with their weight loss surgical program....  my exit from marketing will take place within the next two years....when I'm 75, I'll be retired from real estate.

At my age... my back up plan if I ever retire is probably checking into that hotel six feet under!

That is NOT a good backup plan.   Your clients need you too much.

It is good to know that you are becoming a professional chicken walker, it should be a nice transition from real estate when you are ready, haha.

I am very curious.  How long does it take to walk 36,000 chickens and where did you find the tiny leash?

My backup plan?  I have a few rentals and will turn them all over to property managers when I am tired of it.

Grammy is my backup plan.  For sure no farm animals and certainly not thousands of chickens.

I don't think I would enjoy farming- too much of a city boy, but more power to you if that is something you enjoy.  I am on my third career, and I can always do some consulting if I wanted, but I enjoy real estate enough that I might just scale back but continue with it on a smaller scale.
