Motivational Monday...Breathe

This past week I watched as a car darted in and out of traffic, tailing too close just a thoughtfor comfort to the cars in front of him.  And for what?

When we all reached the next light, there he was waiting with all the rest of us for it to turn green.

So he got there seconds ahead?! Big woo.

Most of us have had that bout of impatience, especially in traffic. Growing up driving in Houston traffic you either learn to be patient or live a life full of stress.

It’s not just in traffic that we experience this. We all do our professional best to be on time (or earlier) for an appointment, as we should. But at the end of the day, if there is an accident on the road or a car has broken down, we will get there when we are meant to get there.

The other morning I was in a rush to head out for our morning walk. It had been so cold earlier in the week, we missed our walk. Let’s go!!! Hurry up!!!

Yes...I can be a pain.  But, Larry spotted a bird in our backyard we had not seen in our area...a pileated woodpecker...and wanted to stop and watch it.

Slow down...Kathy...I will get to the Preserve to walk when I am meant to get there. And, yes, it will still be there. It’s not going anywhere.

You will get there when you are meant to get there and not one moment sooner...so relax. Breathe. And be patient.  Unknown

Hi Kathy... I've found that as I get older I am much less impatient about many things in life. Sure does reduce the stress levels.

Hi Kathy,
I think we all get impatient sometimes but darting in and out of traffic, putting other people (and myself) in danger isn't something I generally do.  I do find myself fretting if I am late for an appointment but the cell phone has eased some of that.  At least we can call people to let them know we're going to be late.

I hope you enjoyed your walk and got pictures of the woodpecker to share with us.

Kathy I had to laugh at this one. Gary just had a bunch of his French counterparts in town last week.  They couldn't believe how polite drivers are in AZ!!   We had to laugh at that one as we see so many people in a hurry and just plain doing really stupid stuff while driving. Slow down, it could be a matter of life and death. Like no kidding. I wrote a post about that a few months ago.

Hi Wayne Martin Larry actually is the more impatient one but he is mellowing with age.

Grant Schneider that's what I have to do when I'm stuck in traffic.

Thangs happen, right Sham Reddy CRS We have to accept it.

Sheila Anderson for me, it depends but I'm usually patient. But when i'm ready to leave the house for something, I'm ready to go and get impatient.

Hi Kathy - You're a lucky woman to have Larry as your better half. I was easily able to relate to what you wrote about traffic until you got to the paragraph mentioning Larry and then this Lyric popped into my head - I'm sure you'll remember it:

Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy

You're a very lucky woman to have a Larry in your life. Have fun and don't forget about feeling groovy! You and Larry are at a time in your lives when you both deserve it!

Hi Roy Kelley Thank you. Hope that you and Chef Dolores are having a wonderful week.

Donald Urschalitz you could always tell when the snowbirds were back because of the traffic. I warn people that if you can't see a head above the steering wheel...watch out.

Michael Jacobs it sounds simple but often it so hard. I do agree.

Hi Brian England I think many of us have grown more patient with age.

Morning Kathy.

Rarely do I get bent out of shape.  However, I did get that way last Thursday for just a moment.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® I love this because it makes us realize that life does go on!  It may not seem like it at the time, especially with a new listing but it does!

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR I do have to practice this because I can get antsy if I think I'm running late.

Kat Palmiotti I tend to have knee jerk reactions but I'm working on holding that knee down.

Totally good way to look at it Sharon Lee BTW- Larry used to see the pileated woodpecker when he was hunting. This is the first time we've seen it in the 'burbs.

Myrl Jeffcoat that's what's scary. We've been seeing road rage here.

George Souto you're so funny. We ended up seeing a deer that morning!

Nina Hollander I'm patient about a lot of things but get really impatient when I think I'm going to be late.

I am pretty good about realizing there is no point in stressing out if I'm not where I think I'm supposed to be....I really do believe I will get there when I'm supposed to. How many times do you hear about someone being spared a horrible accident because they were late or delayed for some crazy reason???

You will get there when you are meant to get there and not one moment sooner...so relax. Breathe. And be patient.
