Thankful for New Friends Across the Country - Because of ActiveRain
It is nice to recall special MeetUps with ActiveRain friends.
When I was taking my e-Pro class, this platform was introduced, and everyone in the class signed up. It was a new thing twelve+ years ago, no one knew what blogging was, and many never continued. There were not as many on the platform back then, but some really good bloggers.
Who knew while blogging and capturing new clients, you could make friends across the country? You read some bloggers' posts every day, and get to know them virtually. There are times you just have to pick up the phone and get to know them personally. There have been contests that mandated you picked up the phone and got to know someone new! It is rather fun when you travel, you probably know someone that blogs, and fun to stop and meet them in person.
Gita Bantwal called me years ago, and her brother lived here in Denver and was ready to buy a home. We talked a bit on the phone about what he wanted, where and found a home they loved. We stayed in touch, and I flew to Philadelphia last year to visit and was lots of fun for a few days. She thought going to Longwood Gardens sounded like a good idea, and was in contact with Roy Kelley & Dolores Kelley who made the trip. That was so fun enjoying the gardens, but the lunch with mushroom soup and some wonderful conversation. This year Gita met me in Myrtle Beach for a few days of sun & fun!
Eileen Hsu and Morgan were more active in the Rain years ago, and we became friends. I took a trip back East and went to NYC, and spent a couple of days with this fun couple. We viewed a two-bedroom condo that was EXPENSIVE compared to huge homes here in Denver for the same amount. They have come to Denver too for a friend's wedding, and I took them to Mount Evans and drove them by homes listed for multi-million dollars to compare what you could buy here!
On my way back from Costa Rica a couple of years ago, I had to layover in Houston and wanted to meet Yolanda Cordova-Gilbert and Bob, and we met for dinner and enjoyed a Brazilian Steakhouse with some wonderful wine Yolanda ordered. So fun to meet them in person, and sure wish they would return to blogging, sure miss them!
Nina Hollander has been in Denver a couple of times, and met for lunch, and invited her to my house (before I moved) and we always had a good time chatting, and catching up with life and what is happening in the Rain. This year I spent a couple of days in Charlotte and stayed with her and Chris, and sure was FUN! Marlow is a kick!
Debbie Reynolds and I have chatted off and on over the years and emailed to stay in touch. I was very sad she chose to stop blogging, but after meeting her this year and staying at her house, I could see why. Not sure how she found time to do so anyway, she is SO busy.
Elizabeth Weintraub Sacramento Real Estate Agent, Top 1% of Lyon Agents called several years ago and said she had a rather lengthy layover at the airport on Christmas Day and would like to meet for lunch. They were on their way to Cuba, and so much fun to get to know her and Adam. Then, on a trip to California, met her and Adam for dinner in Sacramento too. Now that she has moved to Hawaii, need to make another trip to see her!
Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD and Bernie had come into Denver years ago and got to celebrate their wedding anniversary downtown for dinner, and Debb had come another time to visit her daughter who lives here in Denver.
Several years ago went to Santa Fe and met up with Emily Medvec and John McCormack and Debbie for lunch and talked for hours about marketing, social media, and the Rain. I also met up with Rich Cedarburg later that same day.
Then there are those Colorado bloggers that don't live in Denver - Dena Stevens living in Canon City, that I have met with a couple of times, and last year met up with her when I did the train. She and I chat frequently, and happy she just got married! Patricia Beck and I refer clients back and forth from Colorado Springs. I don't get as many going down to the Springs as she does coming into Denver, but this year we have seen more referrals back & forth!
I have chatted with many Rainers on the phone, and hope to meet someday also. I hope I didn't miss anyone!
Had I not joined ActiveRain twelve years ago, this could not have been possible.
