Preparing a home for sale is alot more work than most people imagine. Some people just do not get it if I can be very blunt. Everyone thinks they are an expert but experts are one thing, experienced Realtors are entirely different.
I hope you are very happy with the decor and layout of your home. how mainstream are your taste's? When was the last time you redecorated or even repainted? If it was not within the last year. you are probably out of sync with current fashion. If you are not neutral, you are wrong, or at least not entirely right.
If you are truely serious about selling your home for top dollar you need to prep it prior to trying selling. You are no longer going to live in this house. You want the buyer to envision their living in that home. Getting rid of your stamp of fashion is the only way to create a fertile ground for thier vision of what the house should look like.
Don't let something as small as furniture placement turn away buyers.
