Ok, so I found a couple of more photos in my archives that I hadn't used that I thought would be appropriate for this topic which I actually covered in a previous post. This set of photos was taken on a different day.

1. This was just not one of my favorite pictures. But it's strange how one of the Ritz Carlton towers looms over Grace Church almost like an enormous glassy ghost. The way the light hit the camera, it almost looks as though the glassy steel structure isn't even there - like an optical illusion. It's also striking to see the octagonal slates from the early 20th century forming an ornate pattern on the roof of the church contrasting with the stark tower behind it.

2. Some ornate detail from the front facade of the Bar Building - which stands next to one tower of the Ritz. Graceful and elegant.

3. "Mirror, mirror, on the wall....." One tower is looking at itself in the "mirror" of the other tower. I hope it likes what it sees! It's going to be looking at itself like that for a long time.

Hi Ruthmarie...Very interesting photos.  I always find posts with photos to be most interesting.  I haven't used any in my last several posts because of the topics and they tend to look dull to me.

Thanks for sharing.

thanks Kathleen,

The face of White Plains has changed so much that if my late mother had been dropped in the middle of the city she would have had to pick out individual buildings in order to have any idea of where she was.  She ran for City Council in 1991 and died in 1995.  A while ago, but not THAT long ago and the downtown is unrecognizable.
