There Is A Reason...

There Is A Reason...  A recent question in the ActiveRain Q&A section asked about having regrets regarding real estate.  It pertained to a professional choice but I guess it could be extended to any choice when real estate is the subject.

Of course, I pondered.  A bit.  About regret.  Not necessarily about real estate.  I wondered...  Give My Regrets to Broadway rather than Give My Regards...  How different would that George M Cohan song be?  A word change does have an influence on our perception.  Maybe it's not just a word but an attitude...

I continued on a pondering path...  The words of others often finds me wondering and then a search is sure to follow.  I found some quotes.  And here are some of those "discoveries" -

Regret leads to negativity and negativity kills creativity

                                                                                                      Carol Channing

I think the only advice

I can give you on how to live your life well is,

first off, remember...it's not the things we do in life that we regret

on our deathbed,

it is things we do not

                                                                                                   Randy Pausch

Always do your best.

Your best is going to change from moment to moment,

it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick

Under any circumstance,

simply do your best,

and you will avoid

self-judgment, self-abuse and regret

                                                                             Don Miguel Ruiz

I was a slow starter.

I didn't really make any dazzling impressions.

But I don't really regret that because I learned a lot along the way.

I always kept busy.

I found my way, and I'm happy about it.

                                                                                                   Christopher Lloyd

At the end of your life,

you will never regret

not having passed one more test,

not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal.

You will regret time not spent

with a  husband, a friend, a child or a parent

Hi Michael- my two favorite quotes (and I did like them all) are from Carol Channing and Barbara Bush...two of my favorite people.    And, I will be humming Frank Sinatra's song all day while watching football.

James Dray - it's interesting to see which quotes resonate.  Timing along with other factors in our lives seem to have an influence  At least that's what seems to be for me.

Michael, I choose not to look in the rearview mirror, but to look out the front window, and have NO REGRETS.

Joan Cox - there is a reason why the car windshield is larger than the rearview mirror.

Hi Michael Jacobs - The first thing I thought of was negativity and there is no room in my day for that.  It is something to ponder though, isn't it?

OH boy! Love the sentiment and all of the quotes, Michael! I think I can relate to Barbara Bush's quote the most -

"At the end of your life,

you will never regret

not having passed one more test,

not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal.

You will regret time not spent

with a  husband, a friend, a child or a parent."

Debe Maxwell, CRS - Barbara Bush's words certainly bring forth additional meaning when we realize the truth in those words.  It would be nice to have it occur sooner than later...but maybe it happens when it does for a reason...

Sharon Tara - I am glad to hear you like each quote.  I eliminated one from this post because I thought it might fit ideally for a post I have kept in draft status for some time searching for something "more".  The post is still changing...
