Whew! What a busy week I just put behind me!

Besides dealing with Lancaster Real Estate related stuff, such as showings, inspections and indecisive buyers and sellers; and personal stuff such as out of town guests - I had not one, but TWO graduations in my family!

All week long, the opening lyrics to Sunrise, Sunset have been running through my mind.  Okay, this wasn't a wedding of sorts, but it's a milestone that seemed to come before its time.  Is this the little boy I carried?... Is this the little boy at play?... I don't remember growing older... When did they?  When did they get to be so tall?  Wasn't it yesterday when they were small?  Sunrise.. Sunset.  Swiftly go the days...

Youngest son just graduation last Wednesday from Manheim Township high school.  He has attended Manheim Township schools since kindergarten, and it was so wonderful to watch his childhood friends graduate right alongside him.  I heard names announced that I recognized, yet had I bumped into these young adults on the street (or the mall) I never would have known it was them.  I just can't believe how the years have flown by.

What words of wisdom can I give them?  What can I say to ease their way?

Before we had time to finish our graduation celebration, we had to hop on a plane and make our way to Orlando Florida, where oldest son was graduating from FullSail University with his bachelors degree in Film Production.  Whew!  Was it hot down there!  I heard there was a full-fledged heatwave going on back home in Lancaster as well.  I was hoping for some time to have a little R & R by the pool while in Florida, and I was determined to come back with some sort of a tan, but that didn't happen.  We were so busy CELEBRATING! and cleaning and shopping for some of oldest son's essentials, that we didn't have any time to "enjoy" the hot Florida weather.

It was great seeing him, since we've all been apart since Christmas.  Unfortunately, he isn't coming home just yet as he's comitted to finishing up some projects.  Hopefully, they'll turn out to be paying projects at some point!  I am really looking forward to having him home soon, although it doesn't appear it will be before the end of July.

Younger son is enjoying some R & R at the Delaware Shore this week with his fellow graduate friends, Oldest son is still in the Florida sun, and Pops and Mom are back at the daily grind.  We are empty nesters, except for our two pups.  Isn't something wrong with this scenario??  I need a vacation from all of this celebrating!  Either way, I am super proud of these kids and I couldn't have asked for a happier week.  And, I'm sure I'll be singing Sunrise, Sunset for a few days to come.

JEANNIE - I hope that you enjoyed your celebrations with your boys.  As far as the weather goes, it is beyond Florida hot on Long Island, and I think that PA was hit with the same thing.

Jeannie, the music of Sunrise, Sunset was going through my mind as I read your post.  You must be so proud!  Sounds like you'll need a vacation to recover from your vacation.

Wow, did you guys see some really, really GIANT photos when you posted?  I have a new digital camera - and add that to my new MAC - I am still trying to figure out how to use them all!  Sorry about that, I didn't mean to scare you if that's what you saw!

Adam, I'm sure graduations will come for your kids far sooner than you expect them too.  Mark my words, and enjoy every single minute!  As for the heat, I think I'm going to set up a little wading pool for my dogs so that they can cool off (and I might just have to sit in it with them!)

Brian, I can always use a vacation!  Hopefully when we go back to Florida the end of July to help him pack up his apartment I might have some time to relax.  I highly doubt it, though!

Jeannie,

Wow!!  You certainly were busy!  When I attended my son's college graduation, scenes from when I took him to kindergarten and elementary school kept popping into my head.  And it seemed like yesterday.  Time does fly.

BTW, PA is extremely hot.  We hooked up a couple of fans at the barn's overhang outside and the horses are lazily just standing in front of the breeze trying to cool off.  Now that's what I call hot weather.

Congratulations Jeannie - how exciting to celebrate two graduations this month!

We're suffering in the Northeast part of the state with the heat too, and have a tornado watch in the county til 6pm tonight. Didn't spring just get here two weeks ago?

Brigita - I'm sure the horses appreciated your efforts to keep them cool!  My pups were completely out of it from the heat.  They did enjoy the ice cubes I've been giving them (I keep the popsicles for myself!).  Thanks for commenting, I completely understand what you meant about the scenes of kindergarten and elementary school popping into your head.

Kim - I've heard about tornado warnings - we only had hail and lots of lightning.  At least the humidity broke due to the storms!  Thanks for commenting, it sure was an exciting week for us.

Leslie - Ouch - I'm sure your pocketbook is hurting with two in college!  My sister in law had three kids in college at once, what a killer!  At least I get a few months break before my younger one leaves.  Then, the expenses start all over again!  Thanks for stopping by.
