Thanksgiving Gratitude Challenge: Thankful for Our Home
ActiveRain Ambassador Debe Maxwell has challenged blogger members to post a blog during each week of November in which we express our gratitude for the blessings we enjoy. I am very thankful for our home.
During the 54 years of our marriage, Dolores and I have lived in Portsmouth, Virginia, Virginia Beach and in Montgomery County, Maryland. We have been very fortunate to have very nice homes. Our present home is located in Kentlands, a planned community within the City of Gaithersburg in the heart of Montgomery County, Maryland. This is one of the preferred communities for families moving to the Metro Area of Washington, DC.
We have a very nice home and are in our 25th year in as owners. We purchased it when it was one year old when the original owners were transferred. We have lived here longer than we lived in any of our previous homes and if you follow my blogs, you have read my posts on the Kentlands community for many years.
Kentlands is a very walkable community. The public areas are well maintained and we have sidewalks and well lighted streets. Shopping is very convenient and Chef Dolores can get to grocery stores and drug stores in a matter of minutes. There are number of restaurants and medical offices within the community. By the way, the available medical care in the area is some of the best in the country.
With the location of our home, we can make day trips to Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. I have posted many blogs about some of our favorite places to visit. During the holidays, we always want to visit Longwood Gardens for their annual Longwood Christmas exhibits.
During my photowalks through Kentlands, I enjoy photographing the flowers and the colors of the season. The photograph in this post was taken in our home garden.
Dolores and I are very grateful for our home.
Best wishes to all of my readers for a wonderful Thanksgiving.
