Loving Every Second of the Sedona Lifestyle
Rick and I have lived full-time in Sedona since 2007. We have seen a lot of changes just in the time we have lived here. Since the advent of social media, tourism has taken off. People see the beauty of this area and have to come to see Sedona for themselves.
Sedona maintains a year-round population of approximately 10,000 people, but we have between two to four million visitors a year. Even with our tourism, Sedona enjoys a small-town atmosphere. This is a big part of the Sedona lifestyle. Just as those living near the beach work around all the summer beachgoers, we know the best time to avoid traffic and visitors. Tourism is also the main source of revenue for our city. So we must remember to be grateful for the business they bring to our community.
Our Weather and Red Rock Beauty
I couldn't be happier living in Sedona. There isn't a season I don't enjoy and look forward to, but I am very partial to Autumn. The crisp, clean, pine-scented air makes it a joy to get out in my courtyard. As you can see in the top left image, I get our morning sunrise right through our all-glass back windows. The next image was taken right after seeing the orange sky. This is a reverse-sunrise. The orange and red sun bounce off the clouds and leave a very eery blanket of color which actually goes right through our glass into the great room.
Thanksgiving Color and ...Snow?
My Japanese Maple tree is still holding most of the leaves. I am grateful for another Thanksgiving with color. However, the weather gurus say we will get snow on Thursday! This would be the earliest snowfall we have ever experienced if it comes to pass.
A Three Inch Rain Event
The fog slithering around Coffeepot Rock happened 3 days ago after a huge three-inch rain event. The red rocks were so saturated that this "fog" was clinging to each formation as the sun hit and warmed up the rocks. The color of the red rocks was a deep crimson. Absolutely beautiful.
Love of Family
I am most grateful for the family that will surround me during the holiday season. I moved to Sedona knowing I would be leaving my family behind, but I was very fortunate that one of my two boys decided to follow us out here and eventually make a home and family of his own.
These are some of my favorite pictures.
I wish all a Happy Thanksgiving!
