Rooms Are Staged | Print Marketing Too | The Eye Buys | Make Them Look

The Local Town Pages Newspaper landed in everyone’s mailbox today, and the timing is just fine! The new listings in our town have been few and far between. We have several coming in the springtime, but it’s a lot of snow shoveling coming before spring.

I loaded the newspaper with press releases; a full page real estate ad with a colored background; and a revamped front page ad with a blue background and much of the text removed.

All of it seemed “eye-catching” to me as I flipped through the newspaper.  Visibility is there not only because of the size but also the colorful marketing pieces.

“The Eye Buys” is a marketing phrase that references staging within homes. However, every print marketing piece should be “staged” so those “reading eyes” will remember the quality and the attraction to the ad.

There are several real estate ads in this newspaper, but none really pack a punch. I like the presentations that demand one to at least begin to read the bold print.

Just another thought for the moment.....

Nice job Barbara!  I remember from an advertising class in college we were encouraged to do ads a la Wall Street Journal with less copy and more white space.  In todays busy, Twitter driven world people won't read as much as they once did -- even in a newspaper.  Write your ad to pique interest and add color to make it stand out.  Again, well done!

Charles Bradford every real estate agent across the country should be enrolled in an advertising class.... it's all basic concepts and (get ready) "common sense" marketing.

Hello Barbara - staging goes beyond the basics we may think it includes so many aspects of marketing.  Think like a consumer and what they want to know and see.

Your ad really pops! You make them stop, look and hopefully call.

Never taken an advertising class. Maybe I should.

Thanks for always sharing your creativity!

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland I've not taken any marketing classes and in my opinion, neither of us need it... we have decades of on the job training.... as listing agents, you and I could teach that Marketing 101 class.... you know all the basics, just as I do.....  I learned them from "TRIAL AND ERROR".... now it's second nature.

Barbara Todaro But we would have fun in a marketing class...imagine how much we could share from all our trial and error experience.
