Seattle - Montlake's Arboretum Waterfront Park

Montlake's Arboretum Waterfront Park Trail

Spring was in the air this week, so I headed to Montlake to take a walk at the Arboretum's Waterfront Park.   This is a great place to take a walk and getaway to enjoy a little nature break here in Seattle, and the City is very close by with the 520 Freeway bridges crossing over the water.  This park is in Montlake, which is the neighborhood or Urban Village that lies just south of the University of Washington in Seattle.

I even got to say "Hello" to a pair of friendly mallard ducks who came over to see if I had any duck goodies to share.  Crossing over the little bridges to get onto the marshy islands is a little adventure and an easy walk on cushy bark trails.

It was the middle of the week the trail was peaceful, and I only saw one couple exploring the waters in a little bright yellow boat.  The building accross the water is The University of Washington's Huskey Stadium.

I have rented a canoe at the UW Waterfront Activities Center across the Montlake cut in the past, and now that winter is over anyone can rent one to explore the maze of waterways that make up the Waterfront Park.  Paddling around exploring the nooks and crannies is a lot of fun, and a different way to spend an hour or two.

Later in the spring you can see ducks and duckings, canadian geese and their goslings swimming in the sheltered waterways, very cute and appealing bobbing in the water!

Hi Sarah!  Thanks, I stopped by on impulse and walked around in high heels!  Aren't the ducks cute?  They were so friendly I wish I'd had something to give them, I usually carry dry cat food to toss out to crows sometimes, but I was out.

Hi Danny!  Here is the Wikipedia of  the Seattle type of Arboretum and your Austin type of  Arboretum:  )   You are right, the one I took the photos of is a nice place to relax and enjoy a little nature.
