How YOU Can Reach The Top of the Search Engines...The Right Way

By
Education & Training with MarQeteer

I'm coaching agents every day on the importance of blogging and how it can help improve your position with the search engines.  Consistency is the key and I've got the proof for you.

I'm really big on "practice what you preach," so I've been doing exactly that...including putting my own inconsistency on display to show the consequences.

Last week, after 4 and a half months of pretty consistent blogging, I reached the bottom of the first page on Google when you do a Google search for "Mark Boyd."   When I began blogging in mid-January, I was nowhere to be found on the first 11 pages of a Google search for my name...now I'm on the first page and my goal is to be at the top or at least in the top 5.

I didn't do anything special.  I was consistent.

I didn't "search engine optimize" my blog posts or do anything weird.  I was consistent.

I didn't latch on to "hot" or "overhyped" topics to get attention.  I was consistent.

That's all.

Nothing fancy.

Just honest communication.

Anyone can do it, and if you're not doing it...well, now's a great time to start!  It's easy and fun.  If you're not sure about it or have questions, shoot me an email or leave a comment.

This is a major key to being found online, and if you want to read my original post from when I started tracking my progress just click here.

I would like to start blogging and utilizing this as a way to get my site closer to the top! I joined Active Rain a long time ago and never used it! Now I see it everywhere....my loss. I know you can get optimization in search engines without paying for it...just would like some tips, since you offered!

Mark,

I don't want to throw water on your efforts, however is Mark Boyd what you are hoping to get found under?  I have always wanted to get found under terms like "Bellingham Washington Real Estate".  Two reasons: 1) I don't believe that most of my clients are looking for "Glenn Sanford" and 2) If I dominated that search term with my site I wouldn't be able to sell the business because clients can find me.  Now if my name was "Bill Gates" then I might think differently.  I'm really just trying to understand the logic here.

Glenn,

You make a very good point here.  Thanks for the comment.  My logic behind this is that while you want to be found under other searches (i.e. "Bellingham Washington Real Estate"), it's powerful to be able to tell someone to Google your name and they'll find you at the top of the search engines.  You can apply the consistency rule to any search you want to be found under.  Just make sure you're using those search words consistently in your blog posts...and make sure your attention to SEO doesn't adversely affect the readability of your copy:)

Thanks again for your input!

Mark
