Pantone color of the year 2020

Original content by Sally K. & David L. Hanson 57026-90 Broker

This year, the people at Pantone who are all things color for defining colors by number internationally and for many decades..have chosen the Color of the Year for 2020 to be Classic Blue. Color experts are Classic Bluepredicting you will see it welcomed in every venue from weddings to living room pillows, bedroom walls, kitchen utensils.

A return to nature....the new color is cast as a stable and calming "return to nature" and the sea as we all prepare to usher in a new decade.  It can provide a contrast to the neutral shades of gray we see throughout interior design.

Writing about this "classic choice" the Pantone Institute says:"...the color is one “instilling calm, confidence and connection.” It’s an “enduring blue hue” and it provides stability “as we cross the threshold into a new era.”

Blue Cocktail      A classic blue cocktail was served when Pantone made their announcement...mmmm. You may even see this at your favorite restaurant in the new year.

Is there anything better than a blue popscicle on a warm summer day ? You will be right in style for this year ! Have to say it is one of our very blue popsciclefavorite flavors !  A great way to celebrate summer too !

Pantone's color choice are a bit more traditional than we find with some of the major paint manufacturers.  Earlier we told you about Sherwin Williams Choice which is Naval and also blue of course (see it here) and is meant to reflect a calmness and peace....a new decade of calm...mmmmm...

This has been a colorful post brought to you by Sally K. & David L. Hanson, Broker Associates with EXP Realty, honored to be serving southeastern Wisconsin for all things real estate.

Good morning, Roy Kelley I've commented on this post..... not my favorite color.... I enjoyed all the shades of gray when that was the "go to" color...

I love the color blue and I am thinking of re-painting my living/dining rooms a blue-gray this Spring.

I suppose if blue is used wisely, I might appreciate it in real estate homes. Still remember in my very first year as a Realtor, my Broker took a number of us newbies around the various neighborhoods and communities.  The idea was to introduce  us to the many homes for sale.   Roy Kelley,  we came to one huge plantation-type mansion  - Before we walked  in our Broker asked us to to particularly pay attention to the home, especially as she would ask us a question when we came out.  She also said that the home had been on the market an extra long time - that there was a problem .
And the home was beautiful inside and out.  Getting back in the cars after,
our Broker asked  us if we saw any reason why the home wasn't selling.  People gave various reasons -- wrong.  Her reply, "NEVER PAINT THE INTERIOR ROOMS BLUE."  I have, through the years,  wondered about this.

However, thinking back I do recall after opening the large, wooden front doors we were met with a lot of blue.   So anyway, this year, the color is 'blue.'
Roy, have you ever heard that?

I would certainly limit my use of blue paint in any home for sale. For me, the Pantone color is too dark except us use as an accent when selecting paint colors.

On the other hand, Chef Dolores recently used some very attractive blue nail polish.

While I would not paint the walls blue...I think it is a beautiful accent color...thank you for the RE-BLOG !
