Here in OKC we are not at $4.00 yet but $3.85 is bad enough. How have these prices changed the way you do business? Here are some of the changes I've made....

1. We have a Honda Pilot and a Hyundai Accent. The Pilot gets about 18 or 19 mpg, the Accent 28-30 mpg  around town. Needless to say, the Pilot is spending a lot more time in the garage and the Accent is fun to drive.

2. I'm really trying to concentrate my business close to home---NW Oklahoma City, Edmond, Yukon, and Mustang. All of these areas are convenient for me to get to quickly and easily. Pretty much anything in other areas of the metro I refer to other agents. Why spend all that money to go to places I'm not familiar with? I think my time is better spent in the areas I just mentoned.

3. I try to consolidate all of my driving as much as possible.

4. Gasbuddy.com will give you all of the prices for gas in your area. There is also a fuel logbook on the site to record your purchases and keep track of your mileage and how much you have spent. I also understand that if you use gas with ethanol your mileage can decrease up to 10% plus you risk damage to your engine in some cars. Our legislature passed a bill that takes effect July 1 requiring stations to post on there pumps if their gas contains ethanol.

I'm anxious to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

I try to do more business close to home, and if I do have to go out of the area, I group everything so that it is convenient to do that.

We are paying $4.53.  I am okay up to $5 before I start freaking out.

I am driving a little slower and accelerating a little less quickly. Pretty surprised how much of a difference it makes in gas mileage.

yes Pete that does make a huge difference. Also, if you inflate your tires a little more than what is posted on your car door you will get better mileage. The side of the tire will give you max inflation figures, usually well over 40psi.

Hi Steve. I also use gasbuddy.com and have been recommending the site to all my clients, customers, friends, and family. We're at $4.29 a gallon (regular) out here in NYC.

Hi Vincent........always good to met a fellow gasbuddy. I just celebrated my 4th gasbuddy birthday and in a little less than 3 months I'll hit 1,000,000 points(I'm curently at a little over 919,000). My username there is OKCSteve. Can you believe our avg price actually dropped a cent to $3.78? The station I use is a little higher because I try to stay away from the stuff with ethanol--I feel for you at $4.29.
