We are like the cobbler's children, who have no shoes. I tell other people to keep their yards neat but ours was a mess. For years we had stuff on our driveway. Even an old TV and end table. I had real estate signs outside. We had stuff from a tree that was down since March (compost type stuff that had fallen). It was embarrassing.
Yesterday after I came home from synagogue, I casually mentioned that I wanted to plant the rest of my bulbs and work on the driveway. Josh (my 26 year old grad student son) and hubby thought it was a great idea. Nobody wanted to help me dig bulbs but that was OK. I could beautify my gardens and they could work on the driveway. My hubby worked about 1/2 hour. Old TV was put in car for hazardous waste (I made him put it in his car not mine). Stuff was taken to the curb. Other stuff was thrown out. Bulbs were planted and weeds were pulled. Josh and I stayed out another 30 minutes. The compostable tree detritus was put in the compost bin. Josh helped me dig out one volunteer tree weed that I couldn't manage. We hosed down the driveway.
It still isn't beautiful but we now are not the worst driveway on the street. We are very proud of our effort. Next the (horror music) the garage.
