Motivational Monday...Small Big Gestures
Often when we are contemplating our lot in life and what we can do to make a difference, we forget about the little things.
Yes, wouldn’t it be nice if we could donate millions to finding the cure for cancer? Think of all of the millions of people who could be saved.
Or what about closer to home...finding a way to make sure that our town’s young children had the reading skills that will carry them through their lives.
The other day we went to the County Tax Collector’s office to register our cars. We went as soon as it opened on one of our coldest days of the season.
There is a lady just inside the door who will make sure that you’re in the right place, then give you a number. The temps were in the low 40s (ok, not cold by some standards but cold for us!)
Because people were coming in and waiting, the door was left open. That poor lady was freezing.
After the gentleman in front of me got his number, he very politely asked the lady at the desk “Can I shut that door for you?”
Her smile was huge. “Thank you, I would love it!”
The rest of us were standing there in our own worlds waiting to get our number but that very small gesture by this gentleman made the lady’s day.
It’s always been said that the smallest gestures can have the biggest impacts. Carry that with you this week and into 2020.
If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way. Napoleon Hill
