If you live in the Vernon Hills,   or perhaps visiting friends or family in the area, the Vernon Hills Summer Concert Series is a wonderful place to visit with friends or family.

Vernon Hills -Arbortheater Summer Concert Series

These concerts  start at 7:00 and end at 9:00 and are open to the public. It's a wonderful night out, so pack a picnic basket, frisbees, blankets, chairs,  Bring the dogs and childrenIt could also be a great evening out with the inlaws!

During the concerts the main parking lot is blocked off for handicap and seniors. Concert parking is in the Rogers Executive Park II parking lot adjacent to the Arbortheater.  The Arbortheater can also be accessed on the bike path through Deerpath Park just north of the "Castle".

June 19 - What started as a neighborhood sing along has created one of the area's hottest groups.  The "Jammin' Daddies" is an acoustic rock and roll band that plays the "songs that we all know" with a flair toward everybody having a good time.

June 26 - Join "The Midway Ramblers Cajun Band" for an irresistible taste of Southwest Louisiana music, from the traditions of Cajun and Creole to high energy Zydeco with a little Swamp Pop thrown in for spice! The Midway Ramblers is a lively and spirited group that knows how to entertain audiences of all kinds and ages.

July 3 - Never a group to rest on it's laurels,"The White Saddle Band" constantly strives to remain at the top of the contemporary music scene, playing songs by such artists as Brooks and Dunn, Garth Brooks, Steve Earle, The Mavericks, John Hiatt, Van Morrison and others, while always remembering country music's roots by paying homage to the artists and writers who gave, and continue to give the world the music we call "Country."

July 10 - "215 West" has traveled the globe performing a variety of classic hits.  It's not unusual to hear the group jump from Motown, to current Top 40, 50's Rock, Latin dance, 40's Swing, 70's Disco, and ending up with a Classic Rock, or Chicago Style Blues tune.

July 24 - An energetic vocal jazz quartet backed by 4 swinging musicians.  From lush ballads to swinging renditions of big band music...from good-time 50's rock and roll and doo wop to lightning fast original vocalese lyrics, the "Jazz Spectrum Vocal Quartet",  lays down a dazzling performance of rich harmonies and tight ensemble work.

July 31 - Singing the blues and keepin' it cool, "The Tuff Enuff Band" brings the sound of class rock and the blues to life.  This local band reflects a time when songs were written from the heart with a little bit of soul.

August 7 - Remember the birth of Rock 'n Roll way back in 1955? Take a trip back in time to a more innocent yesteryear, when sock-hops, poodle skirts, malt shops, and drive-in movies were the rage. "The Ragtops" play the great music of the 50's and 60's just the way you remember it!

August 14 - "Class of 68" is a 1960's rock and roll band that captures the energy and enthusiasm of what many would consider the "golden age" of top 40's greatest hits.  Feel good music for everyone just the way you remember it?

August 21"Surf's Up" Outdoor movie on a 45' big screen.  During this adventure you will follow a teenage rock hopper penguin named Cody Maverick from his hometown of Shiverpool, Antarctica, where all of the other penguins think he's nothing but a surfing fool, to the "Big Z Memorial Surf Off" on Pen Gu Island. Cody quickly learns some important lessons about life and surfing.  Showtime Around dusk about 8:00-ish.

Judy, I am glad you are highlighting the Vernon Hills Concert Series for the public and the upcoming dates. We have had similar events in the summer in our area. I will tell you they have always been in what I call "the best things in life are free" category. Something to grab friends, family (or the dog) and have a very enjoyable evening. People underestimate what wonderful events these are to generate good feelings and "memories." Thanks for this excellent post and gathering all the data, PLUS taking the time to insert the hyperlinks. WOW. You are a great detailed person!!

How fun! It's been YEARS since I've been in Vernon Hills. I think there is/was a comedy club I used to go to way back in my single days!
