Out With The Old...

Out With The Old...  Here we are as we approach the beginning of the second month of 2020 in a week or so. Yes, I know we don't need another reminder of the lightning speed of time in our lives.

Of those who make resolutions, I wonder how many have been broken or even remembered beyond the time they were initially made?   Under such hope and promise.  I digress.

Actually my mind has wandered in a bit of a different direction.  It seems that there is some thoughts entering my mind about reusing or adapting old ways.  It's hardly a new idea.   Actually, I am pretty sure it never went out of style.  You know, in the real world.

We see centuries-old buildings, art and more throughout the world. We 'see" it when we travel there in person and when we visit places in other ways(reading and such)  we are able to "see" it as well.  Some of it stands today as it once did in the past.  Very little has changed.  In other examples, we see repurposing of structures and/or uses.  Adapting of all sorts.

Many cultures embrace the old ways through connections with people and cultivation of things more valuable than the mere physical.  You can likely cite examples of your own I am sure that capture that thought.

When I think and ponder, I often find a quote or quotes that makes me wonder a bit more. The thoughts I may have originally pondered can go off on an entirely different tangent.  I think this one is a good match for me. For today:

Nothing Lasts Forever.

So Live It Up,

Drink It Down,

Laugh It Off,

Avoid The Drama,

Take Chances And Have No Regrets

Because

At One Point Everything You Did

Was Exactly What You Wanted.

What a cool post!  Love Marilyn Monroe's quote.

And since I"m very much into repurposing - great!

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - my pleasure.

Jan Green - I like the quote as well.  Most of us have too much stuff - re-purposing and recycling/reusing of all types just makes a lot of sense.

Thanks to your post, you inspired me to post about something I just heard of for donating to charity and repurposing Amazon boxes!

Jan Green - good news.  Amazon may have a monopoly on shipping boxes and boxes of all kinds.  Now that is going to be a purposeful post.

Blink and another month has passed.  Yawn and it's a year later.  No stopping it!  And it goes faster and faster as we get older. Doesn't seem fair does it?

Truly ponder worthy on many different levels. Marilyn's quote is just one more example of her iconic presence that lives on through eternity.

My wife and I do not do resolutions but every morning we set our intentions on paper about the day before us and we do this every day.

Hi Michael:

Marilyn Monroe's quote is a good one...and something to ponder further! Avoiding the drama is always on my list, when it's possible!

I don't make resolutions so none to break.

Jeff

Lise Howe - no mention of "time flies" necessary but it seems to be truer and truer each year, doesn't it?

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - iconic indeed and her image is often imitated but not matched.

Joe Pryor - seems like an excellent plan.  Good for you two.

Jeff Dowler, CRS - that's a good way not to break any resolutions.

Hello Michael,  Marilyn Monroe came up with a fun way of living life.  To bad she did not live longer.

I don't do resoluations any more because I rarely follow thru. However my focus this year is definitely more health related and I am making inroads to make that happen.  In the meantime I like Marilyn Monroe's Avoid the Drama ... there is plenty of it around and I work hard to stay clear.  It does a body good! IMHO

HI Michael Jacobs - I don't make New Year's resolutions.  If something is worthy of being resolved, it should be done at the time it is discovered. But I do like Marlyn Monroe's quote.  She had some spunk!

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - that "do now" attitude is an important one.  "Spunk" I was just thinking of words that are not used as much as they once were, spunk certainly qualifies as one.

Well, if century-old buildings can be re-purposed, why can't we?!! Love this post, Michael and love the Marilyn Monroe quote too - very fitting!
