Highlighting small towns that embrace cultural offerings and distinctive historical elements provide an unlimited array of places for self-discovery in southern Utah. Small towns are big on enticing people with a variety of attractions and festivities. From scenic mountain ranges to flavorful treats, each locale consistently charms throngs of visitors.

 

 

 

1. Needing to satisfy that sweet tooth? You can bet that Veyo Pies is the reason to travel up Hiway 18 from St. George to get a taste of scrumptious pies. They sell an average of 100 pies per day and during Thanksgiving 400 per day. The tender, cherry turnovers are some of the best ever! You're guaranteed to get sum yum! While you're there, visit the Veyo Pool and Crawdad Canyon, a campground is also available for overnight stays.

 

 

 

2. Looking for a Best Friend? Kanab, Utah is also known as "Little Hollywood" for over 100 films and several TV shows surrounded by towering Navajo sandstone cliffs and vistas. Stop in and explore the Visit the Little Hollywood Museum. Home to Best Friends sanctuary, which homes 1,700+ animals, including cats, dogs, horses, rabbits and more. Most are available for adoptions and all that remain live out their natural lives. 

 

 

3. Aiming to become a Master Caster? Panguitch Lake is a favorite fishing spot for locals. The name means 'Big Fish' for a reason. Located just beyond Bryce Canyon National Park, it also offers the yearly Panguitch Valley Balloon Rally in June which includes a variety of events like: tailgate parties, food, live entertainment, a 5k and other venues. Rustic cabins, pontoons and aluminum skiffs are also available to rent daily.

 

 

4. Planning a stay near Zion National Park? Springdale, Utah, founded in 1862 is nestled between The Watchman, a pointed stone mountain, and Mount Kinesava on the southern edge of Zion National Park. Surrounded by vivid colors and surreal hardscapes, it hosts over five million visitors a year. Springdale offers a fun atmosphere, eclectic gift shops plus restaurants with outdoor seating to take in the gorgeous scenery.

 

 

 

5. Wanting to draw in the beauty? Escalante, Utah is home to Escalante National Monument. It is a series of plateaus descending from Bryce Canyon going toward the Grand Canyon. The road between Escalante and Torrey has been described as "the most scenic road in south central Utah. Artists take part in the Annual Escalante Canyons Art Festival, gaining awe-inspiring inspiration by stunning scenery and natural wonders.

 

 

 

With so many year 'round outdoor activities to explore like, hiking, cycling, boating, camping, golfing, fishing, southern Utah is on many people's Must Do list. And there's so much more! Seven state parks in southern Utah (43 total across the state), with 5 national parks that include: Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, and Arches are collectively known as “The Mighty 5.” Perhaps we will see you soon!
