Words to Live By. Every Day!
"Don’t be intimidated, keep your chin up."
A few, simple words that Vilma Grunwald used to lift her children's spirits when they experienced difficulty. Though Frank only knew his mother for a short time, that phrase is one of very few memories he holds dear.
You see, Vilma and her oldest son, John, were two of so many people forced into the gas chambers at Auschwitz on July 11, 1944. Eleven year old Frank was hidden amongst older prisoners and was saved from that fate.
A million+ innocents perished during the Holocaust. The true sufferers are the survivors, forever bearing the horrors of the past. Frank still honors her quote, "Don’t be intimidated, keep your chin up."
Though 85 years old now, his mother's words and her positivity are a few of the favorite things he remembers about her. "She never acted as if we were victims." What an amazing testimony of resilience and strength.
Words are impressionable, communicating feelings, thoughts, dreams, uplift, direct, sooth and enlighten. They can positively empower or cut deeply, severing relationships. Choose them wisely in daily dealings.
Words to live by. Every day!
