It is no surprise that religion is a significant part of our culture, considering 86% of Americans practice a formal religion. What may be more surprising is that real estate websites are now incorporating religion into the searches. These websites display real estate listings in proximity to synagogues, and churches. Other sites refer buyers to real estate professionals who guide clients to places of worship in a community.

Religious preference was also a topic in a legal case against Craig’s List filed by a Chicago lawyer’s group. The lawyers objected to a phrase used by Craig’s List that said “Catholic Church and beautiful Buddhist temple within one block”. Craig’s List ultimately won the case, as the court ruled that Craig’s List is a listing site and was not liable for discriminatory posts by site users.

True, Craigslist doesn't have to follow the same rules a real estate licensee does.

I'd add to Shaun's comment that America is a place where people are free to choose their own religion, including no religion.
