Do You Know a Good Real Estate Agent?
[Alternate Title]: The Shoe's on the Other Foot
Now that I am retired, I have come to the point where most folks in my peerage section tend to arrive: Do I List the Place and Sell . . . or Stay?
Do you know a good real estate agent in the Portland Metro area?
For those of you who know (and love???) me, you're aware I've had to take an early retirement due to medical complications of the botched surgery-kind. In fall last year I had additional great news {rolling eyes}, I was diagnosed with degenerative arthritis in both hips and a small meniscus tear in the right, formerly known as "my good" knee. Disability benefits were denied and I have applied for reconsideration, but in the meantime . . . time to think about down sizing.
Here's the thing, I am blessed to have the rental to sell if need be. I didn't know my medical condition would jump up and
make my hip bone slip, but hey . . . it was a good decision to ease up when I did
I thought about renewing my license just to "save" on a commission, but for the costs associated and headaches I'm going to enlist the services of real estate agent because:
I want a Realtor®
When I was selling real estate I discovered so many great agents, here on AR and in my local market/community. Those that displayed the exemplary Code of Ethics in their daily business practice. When agents assist their clients who have those "WTF do I do now?" moments, a good real estate agent is worth their weight in gold.
WTF do I do now? is the new "Senior Moment" for me!
I have not been following the real estate market. At. All. I do not know the stats, the DOMs, absorption rate, market, etc. etc. Trust me . . . these things are very important when comtemplating a sale of real estate. I know I'm still a great real estate agent. I just do not have the RMLS "Bible" of all local data at my fingertips anymore.
The tenants gave notice, so with the upcoming vacancy, there's a window open for selling.
I am no longer on any social media. If you'd like to help a colleague out and repost this on your social media sites, MUCH APPRECIATED! If you know someone who might be interested to rent or purchase, let me know. I'm not sure if my license status (inactive) allows me to broker referral, but I can check on that. Happy to oblige.
I am blessed to have this rental, but . . . and here we go with the timeless mantra ALL listing agents want to hear:
I might want to sell the place!
The property I have FOR RENT is listed on CL: https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/apa/d/beaverton-central-beaverton-classic/7070885130.html
Hope everyone is gettng their 2020 New Year going strong!
P.S. If life doesn't hold all those "fair . . . but so uncool" moments, my Molly dog passed in the late fall last year, as well. She was pushing 17, and was such a sweet pet. Here's a former post that seems to be a good one:
