Where do Floridians go for Vacation???

I just love this country of ours, it is so beautiful with so much to see and do.  I am a native NYer now residing in Florida the vacation capital of America where "The Mouse"  gets fed quite well by all those looking for a little reprieve from the daily grind.

Well we just took a trip to North East Kansas!  You may think what in the world would one find in Kansas?

Let me tell you  about Kansas, at least the area that I visited.   I have family living there and had visited them 15 years ago when my niece was supposed to be born.  She ended up being born a week after I left, but she is an awesome young lady today!

Kansas is not part of the heartland for nothing.  It has some of the most beautiful terrain, gorgeous victorian and colonial style historic homes on some of the most breathtaking landscapes in rural America.  The farms are either dairy, meat or crop farms on the most beautiful rolling hills.

This was a vacation to refresh the heart and soul!!!

I just love spending time with family and seeing new places.  I have nieces and nephews that every mother would give their right arm to have.  Well behaved, well spoken, helpful, hopeful, enterprising, creative, GREAT COOKS! resourceful... the list goes on and on and on!!!

Let me tell you a little about my niece.  She is the third daughter and the forth born.  This young lady along with her sisters can handle a kitchen and cook some of the finest and tastiest meals I've ever eaten!!!  They are all a treasure far above price!

NO JOKE!!!

My nephew, well lets just call him the "horse whisperer."  He loves to take abused horses and love them back to the wonderful creatures God designed them to be!  He is an amazing young man.

He is a very sensitive young man on a mission.  He is unstoppable!  He will be going on a mission trip over seas very soon and your prayers for his safety are much appreciated.

I just don't have room to tell you about all of my wonderful nieces and nephews nor their superb and sacrificial parents, but in my book they're all the best you'll ever know!

We played volleyball until darkness overtook us and I had to prove that this almost 50 year old gal can still play a mean game!

The family went on a hike while I relaxed (too much like exercise, which I really need)!

I rode my nephews horse... Oh Lord have mercy on her back!!!

Ok so what's my gig?  Go on vacation, visit a place you've either never been before or haven't been for a while.  Relax, enjoy your family and refresh yourself in the goodness of God!  You'll be so much better for it!

We are so grateful you came.  It was a blessing, and I believe a harvest may yet come from the rest, refreshment and refocus you enjoyed.

Love from all of us,

MDU

Wonderful post. It brings back memories of the summers spent at Grandma's farm in Illinois. We live on the east coast and haven't been back since she passed away. Great way for kids to grow up. Best to your nephew.

I was wondering where Floridians go on vacation.  Looks and sounds like a lot of fun.

Michael aka MDU,  I await the harvest!!!  :+)))

Michael B,  It brought back memories for me too of visiting the Catskills and living on a farm for the summer, but it was so much better than that time.

Karen,  Being from NY and having parents who loved to travel kind of puts a sense of adventure in my heart.

I actually go to Fla for vacation. Family lives there. My girlfriend lives there. It would be nice to explore different places. Somewhere where it's peaceful.

Robert,  We welcome you here and Florida is a great place to live but we all need to expand our horizons and enjoy our life.  Florida is peaceful and so is Kansas and lots of other places too.

Thanks Lynn,  Actually they had a very positive effect on my life this week!  We all really enjoyed each others company.  I think the thing that was so awesome is the bond they established with my children (now adults).

Liz,  No tornados!  We face threats of tornados here in Florida too so it really doesn't bother me much.  I kept saying to people before I left,  I'm going to Kansas Toto!  We just don't really know what other areas are like until we go.  The area was majestic and beautiful but my family out there was absolutely the best!!!

It sounds like you had a great vacation Sara... spending time with family... how could it get any better?  I used to go to Kansas with some friends every year back to go pheasant and quail hunting but I haven't been in a couple of years... it is beautiful country though.
