MoCo historic districts: a charmer in red.
I wanted to share this wonderful post from Andrea Bedard since I always enjoy the look of historic homes, especially when they are well maintained and updated.
After leaving settlement at C.L.A. Title in Rockville the other day, I just had to sneak a moment and drive through Rockville's Historic Districts. I just can't help myself! Charming older houses are my favorite. This grand dame in red caught my eye right away! I am also partial to pops of color.. be it siding or a front door or accessories, color can transform a space, draw in the eye and create visual interest. It certainly is working for this historic property.. it's a charmer in red!
By the way, Rockville's historic districts - such as Rockville Park, West Montgomery Ave - fall under the authority of the Historic District Commission. The commissions main goal is preservation, which means that owners of properties within the historic districts have to apply for review and approval of any planned alterations (from removal of mature trees to additions; from changing exterior paint colors to adding a fence).
