Famous UK Pub Crawls

The UK is famous for its pubs. While visitors will have their set to-do lists when touring the British mainland, they often plan to drop by some of the country's historic pubs for a drink of gin and tonic to unwind too. Recently, pub crawling in London has been voted as one of the world's best travel experiences. Why miss out? Be sure to sign up for one or more of these pub crawls when in the UK, to get a wholesome experience of life as a Brit.

       ·       The Monopoly Pub Crawl, London – The Monopoly Pub Crawl, true to its name, is based on the famous board game – Monopoly. It requires its participant to visit the 26 London streets and stations found represented on the Monopoly board. Set aside an entire day if you plan to indulge in this pub crawl. It will take you to famous old haunts of literateurs such as Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, frequented by the likes of Mark Twain and Charles Dickens in the days of old.

       ·       Transpennine Real Ale Trail, Yorkshire and Lancashire – The Transpennine Real Ale Trail has become more of a pilgrimage today for ale enthusiasts. The trail pays homage to the British Railways as much as it does real ale. A leisurely six-stop pub crawl, all the pubs are near their respective train stations. When on the Transpennine Pubcrawl, you get to visit one of the few standing Victorian station buffet bars in the UK today.

       ·       The Otley Run, Leeds – The Otley Run pub crawl begins at Woodies Ale House in Headingley. If you have the appetite for it, this pub crawl takes you across 16 different pubs. The Otley Run pub crawl is special as it is one of the few pub crawls where participants are required to dress up according to their policy.

       ·       Mumbles Mile, Swansea – The Mumbles Mile pubcrawl has been named after a two-mile stretch on Mumbles Road in Swansea, which once housed over 20 different establishments for drinking. While only nine of these pubs remain, the stretch still has some of the best pubs once can find in the UK. Special mention goes to the William Hancock, a 160 year old pub which is believed to be haunted.

While we've listed only the regular UK pub crawls open to the public here, there are other reputed pub crawls in the UK like the bi-annual King Street Run in Cambridge and Seven-legged Crawl in Nottingham, which occur less frequently. In order to experience the glory of those, you will need to plan your UK trip accordingly.

Bars and taverns in the UK ooze old world charm with their wooden flooring, dim lighting and no-frills approach to serving drinks to the thirsty. You, too, can recreate the feel of sipping a leisurely drink at a traditional UK pub back at home by engaging the services of Parquet Wood Flooring. Once you have your wood flooring installed, all you need is a humble bar table cordoning your liquor shelf and a few bar stools. Dim the lights down and invite your friends for a night of drinking and revelry, without ever leaving your home.
