I stopped actively listing and selling real estate about eight years ago. I knew then that the time was right. For the most part I have been good with my decision but every once in awhile I wish I could work with someone I know, enjoyed or both. Yesterday, I tried to help a relatively new friend by responding to a question he initiated. Turns out he is looking to buy in my old area, but knows little about it.
I was honest about a home he had looked at in an area where I wouldn't live if I was given a home. He found an agent on Trulia who is neither proactive or well thought of in the area where he is looking. I wanted to refer him to a colleague at my old firm and he was receptive but still believed that the home he found on his own was a good buy.
I had almost forgotten how stressful it is to hear someone who is clueless decide they know better. I am glad I don't need to do this for a living anymore.
