If you are buying a home for the first time, there is a lot that goes into getting the process rolling. Thankfully, there are resources in Oregon that can help you take the first step to becoming a homebuying expert and help you with closing costs! Here are a couple:

RVAR/OAR HOME Foundation First Time Homebuyer Assistance Program

Offered through ACCESS, this program assists first-time buyers in Southern Oregon with their down payment and closing costs or pre-paid items. It's a great idea to reach out to them early in the process because it can take a bit of time to get approval. There are a few requirements:

  • You have to contribute a minimum of $500 to your down payment
  • You have to attend the homebuyer education and meet with a Certified Homeownership Counselor at ACCESS
  • You must work with a Lender and Real Estate Agent who is an active member of the Southern Oregon MLS
(All of the agents at CB Pro West are MLS members!)

Oregon Bond Residential Loan Program

The Oregon Housing and Community Services helps connect you with qualified lenders and offers two interest rate options designed to help low to moderate income homebuyers maximise their purchasing power. You will need to meet certain income and lender requirements, but Josephine County is considered a "Targeted Area" which means some requirements may be waived!

There are more resources offered at the local, state, and federal, and you can always reach out to a real estate agent at CB Pro West to get information for your specific needs.
