"Happiness is meeting an old friend for the first time."
I returned from a 3-week road trip on Monday and I am waaaay behind on sharing my fun meet-up experiences. I did write about meeting up with John Boles in Kuna, Idaho (Boise area). That was fun because John had just done an amazing job of working with some special friends I had referred to him.
My next opportunity for a meet-up was on my way through St. George, Utah where Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! and I arranged to meet for lunch. What a treat that was!
When Wanda walked into the restaurant she came bearing a wonderful golf-themed gift basket packed in a box that said: "Golf is a fore letter word". There were golf balls, tees, tea towels, a seriously amazing smelling caramel candle, and all kinds of tasty goodies. I shared a lot with my friends along the way during the trip and still have some left! Thanks Wanda!
Wanda and I met at the Italian Restaurant Cappeletties in St. George. Wanda recommended the empanadas. Since I love empanadas and hadn't had good ones since I was in Argentina, I ordered them. These empanadas were awesome... honestly as good or better than the ones I enjoyed so much in Argentina.
Wanda and I discovered we have quite a bit in common, including a love for the game of golf. Besides golf, we talked about a whole myriad of subjects ranging from the serious to fun. I love how her eyes absolutely sparkled when she talked about her husband, children, and grandchildren. I'm sure we could have talked a few more hours had time permitted.
St. George has always been one of my favorite areas because it is so beautiful. I will definitely be stopping to see Wanda again next time I travel through St. George. Hopefully, we can enjoy a game of golf together and maybe even some more empanadas at Cappeletties.
Getting together with Wanda was definitely like meeting an old friend for the first time.
Hi Sheila Anderson
Knowing I have friends along my road trip routes makes it a lot more fun! It was a pleasure to finally meet Wanda in person!

Morning Carol.
One of these days, I would love to visit all of the people I follow in the Rain. Who knows where I'll be at any given moment.

Hi James Dray
That's one of the great things about the Rain. There are Rainers scattered all over the country... wherever you go, there they are!
Hi Wayne Martin
If I ever get to the Chicago area again, I'll look you up! Likewise, if you get out to the Northwest give me a call.
Good morning Nina Hollander
It's amazing how you can feel like a friend to someone you've never met, isn't it? I'm hoping to get to the Carolinas to meet you and enjoy some of that wonderful golf I've been hearing about.

Carol Williams hi Carol... you know you are always welcome and I'm looking forward to a visit.
Hi Brian England
I always enjoy my meet-ups in Phoenix with you and the others there. I did make a point of taking time to meetup with more Rainers on this trip too. I still have a few more meetups to write about.

I know you two hit it off - and why not? You're both wonderful women with a lot of passion for life. That Wanda goodie bag is sure a nice bonus.
"Golf is a fore letter word". I love that quote, Carol. I'm glad you had the opportunity meet up with Wanda!
CONGRATULATIONS Carol, on having this blog FEATURED in the Old Farts Club group!
Hi Carol Williams - isn't it wonderful meeting an AR member we have known online. I'll bet she wore that short to share your common interest.
Happy Monday, Carol Williams . Thank you for sharing your story and the meetup with Wanda Kubat-Nerdin. Loved your story of your 3-week road trip and the people you met. Loved the photos you shared, also.
