I need some input. My cell contract will be ending in August and I'm between a rock and a hard place when it comes to deciding which way to go. I want to go with one device for everything. What do you use  why did you chose it, and why do you like it? Or, do you have either one and don't like it and why. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I would go with the new generation of the iPhone unless you are a heavy email user then I would go with a BlackBerry.

I have Verizon and I just switched to a smartphone.  I first got a windows based Palm.  it was great for all the functions, only problem was I dropped many more calls than before.  I've switched to a VX6800 and I'm getting better call functioning, but it's still not as good as a regular cell phone.  I think these all in one phones have a ways to go on the voice side of things.

I am running a T-Mobile MDA which is a Windows Mobile device.  I have my eKey, phone and PDA all in one package.  I also like that I am able to sync Word docs, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook apps.  I can also use it is a modem for my laptop...

My wife has a BB, and she loves it, too...

Ernie,

I have been using a Blackberry for years, on my second one and the only reason for the second one is they finally put a camera on it!  the phones have been pretty bullet proof.

Once you have full connectivity you will wonder how you lived without it.

1) Calendar that talks to Outlook (hopefully you use outlook for you calendar)  I have been using an electronic calendar for a long time.. I was a Palm Guy for years prior to the Black berry. The calendar feature alone on a smart phone is worth getting it.

2) seamless email if you have it set up correctly. and Blacberry allows more emails to be sent to the phone than you will ever need. I have both work and personal sent to it.

3)internet: the old blackberry was too slow to use the internet, it made dial up look like broad ban. But the new one (I have the pearl for about a year now) is about as fast as my computer.

4) attachments to emails.  not always easy to read, but that could be software.  but at least you can tell a client you received it and keep people happy

5) if you have heard of them called "Crack Berries" you will soon understand why once you get one!

I phones I dont have any input for. But the price and the fact that you cant choose your carrier bothers me. Palm's seem tempormental, but I do have friends that like theirs. I do not think that the email is as seemless as on a blackberry, and I have heard rumors that if the battery dies you lose info.. (Not sure I believe this rumor, but old Palm pilots were like this)

So I guess it all depends on what you need it for. I dont think you would regret the BB, and you have a choice of different ones to choose from, with the carrier of your choice.

I have had my iphone since December, it's great for all the tools you can put on it, but a few suggestions. It's slippery and thin...get a cover for it so if you drop it, 400.00 didnt just go out the window.  secondly, get a bluetooth, when you put the phone to your ear, you touch the screen and i have been known to call people i had no clue i was calling.

great for email, great for internet, great address book and calender and a built in ipod with speakers...
