WYSIWYG.  What you see is what you get, right?  Except when you don't-- and that happens all too often.  Everybody has a story about not getting what you expected (like that beautiful picture of the juicy hamburger I saw at lunch today compared with the 'thing' stuck between a gooey bun that actually arrived-- I knew I should have gone for Chinese...).

So tell me, when was the last time you calibrated your computer monitor?  The calibration of your computer monitor can greatly affect how colors appear, which in turn can impact the color rendition of your final printed piece.  Because this is true, I recommend you calibrate your monitor regularly.

There are a number of ways to calibrate your monitor.  Macintosh computers have a built in monitor calibrator that will walk you through the process.  For Windows users a good option is the Adobe Gamma calibrator that's supplied with the Windows version of Photoshop.  If Photoshop isn't your software of choice, there are other third-party developed software programs out there for Windows that can help you calibrate.

Color BarYou can also calibrate by asking me to send you a hard copy of this color bar chart and then comparing it with the color bar found on our website [note to self:  why do I need to send them the hard copy printed piece, people are going to wonder?  OK self, because comparing my online artwork in this blog on their monitor with their online rendition of my color bar on our website would be like comparing their right hand with their... uh, right hand...].
