Special offer

there was a 50/50 chance...

By
Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

Last night we were supposed to switch to Daylight Saving Time (yes, it's saving... not savings).  Push the clock ahead an hour... we lost an hour of sleep.

I, of course, had showings with a buyer of mine, scheduled for first thing this morning.  There was always a chance that some people, either my buyer, or one of the listing agents meeting us, would forget about the time change... and all 'heck' would break lose as we knocked on the door of a property... at what the sellers thought... was an hour early.

Nothing like showing up early on a Sunday morning... right?

I was smart enough... (no, really!) to try to pre-empt this problem.  I called and texted my buyers... "Don't forget to set your clocks forward tonight... so that you make our 9:00a.m. showing at the right time".

I was also smart enough (hey!) to remind the listing agents of the same thing.

I had a fifty-fifty chance that our showings would be timely this morning.  Any bets on what happened this morning?

Hello Alan - that smart move saved you/    From a possible embarrassment of finding the sellers in their pajamas or your buyers missing.   Was there a reason for a 9AM Sunday showing today?   I mean besides some type of "testing" for human behavior purposes.

I show properties when buyers (and sellers) are available.  Sometimes that's early on a Sunday morning.

This grammar nazi didn't know it was a singular word. And I imagine the Sellers weren't ready for you? Or someone didn't show up as scheduled?

I make those reminder calls too if I have an appointment the day DST goes into effect.  That's because I did arrive on time for a listing appointment where sellers were frantically cleaning, thinking they had one more hour.  They were so embarassed.
