I noticed a few days ago buried deep ( 6-7 pages back) in the newspaper that the number of in contracts in April was up nationwide. Why was this not on the front page?It seems only the BAD news hits the front page.

Our market in Central Ohio seems to be hitting a hot streak. We have had multiple offers on some properties and many homes going under contract in less than 30 days?

What is happening in your market?

Joe, I've heard from my buddies in Fairfield, CA (Northern CA) that they are seeing multiple offers on SOME properties.

In our area, things are picking up, as they should at this time of year...but only if condition is great and price is right. We are definitely seeing multiple offers and dealing with shocked buyers. "I thought this was a buyer's market!" is a comment I am hearing from agents and buyers alike! I think I will do a post about this, because you are right - the news isn't going to have it out there because it's GOOD NEWS.

No sales are not picking up at all.  It is my understanding that you need a full break down of that 2%.  It is a good news bad news report if you go into the details.  Most of the increased sales are some sort of depressed property.  In some areas they are accounting for over 60% of all sales.  Those distressed sales will be like a tsunami's second wave, just when you think the worse is over the second wave hits pulling down equity values of entire regions.  I would not want to be living in one of those neighborhoods that are hit that hard.
