South Carolina is famous for its Seafood Festivals! You'll find anything from shrimp, to oysters, to delicious crab. 

January 

Not only is the Lowcountry Oyster Festival the world's largest oyster festival, but it's named as one of the top 20 events in the Southeast by the Southeastern Tourism Society. You'll find live music, contests, and free activities for the kids- bring the whole family! Not a fan of oysters? There's always plenty of options like BBQ, baked goods, and more. Feelin' VIP? In the exclusive VIP area, you'll find unlimited local oysters, food, drinks, and seating.

February

Not only is this festival held at a wildlife sanctuary, you'll love the live music, BBQ, and of course- oysters! BYOB, a chair, blanket, and your appetites. Tours with Museum Archaeologists are usually offered as well. 

This family-friendly festival is usually a week long. You'll love the mix of chefs, mixologists, artisans, music and wildlife. "Over the course of seven days guests take in celebrity guest chef dinners, the best of southern pit masters, local wildlife, cooking demos, wine tastings, scholars, and more. The festival explores the South's evolving food culture, which has been returning to its roots in recent years by honoring its rich native agriculture." This gorgeous island experience is one you won't wanna miss!

April

The Blessing of the Fleet and Seafood Festival pays tribute to Mount Pleasant's local shrimp and fishing industry! You'll enjoy crafts, a boat parade, live music, and more. This festival was started by the Magwood family in 1988 and ever since, the net proceeds have been given to local nonprofit organizations. 

 

The 17th Annual Soft Shell Crab Festival is one of the biggest local events in the area. Thousands of people come from near and far for live music, local bands, kids activities, and charity events. You get to enjoy a whole day of celebration with family, friends, and community.

The Blue Crab Festival is one of the biggest festivals in the Southeast. Visit and you'll find live music, arts and crafts, vendors, scenic views, and of course- delicious local seafood! Bring the whole family- your child will love the kids zone and provided activities. The festival has been awarded the Best Annual Event/Festival on the Grand Stand by readers of the Sun News newspaper for over eight years!

On the first Saturday in May, for over 43 years, McClellanville has hosted thousands to come enjoy the Lowcountry Shrimp Festival. Since 1977 the festival has shined a light on local shrimp boats and crews to prepare for shrimp season. Enjoy deserts, drinks, live music, vendors, and a huge kids area!

A Taste of Beaufort comes with INCREDIBLE cuisine from all over the Lowcountry, live music, a vendor market, and more. 

June

Tickets to the Columbia Shrimp & Grits Fest include unlimited shrimp & grits samples from restaurants, live music, and prizes all around! Now's your chance to find out- who really has the best Shrimp & Grits in Columbia? This is an event you won't wanna miss!

July

Some of the best local seafood restaurant and caterers come together to bring you a variety of delicious options! With food, drinks, amazing live music, and more- there's no reason to miss this delicious event you and the family can all enjoy!

August

Enjoy delicious crabs by the bucket along with options like fried fish, chicken, and more! Plus, local vendors are always on site with homemade crafts on display! Food, art- what more do you need?

September

Hosted by the Town of Yemassee, you'll find parades, talent shows, arts and crafts, entertainment, and more! Of course, you'll find delicious shrimp too!

October

This two-day festival is happy to celebrate SC Wild Caught Shrimp, local food, and live music! Hosted by the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce and South Carolina Shrimper's Association- you won't be disappointed!

You and the family will enjoy live music, a kids zone, face painting, balloon artists, and over 100 vendors of all kinds! Fresh shrimp and local seafood will be served by local restaurants. Originally called the Little River Shrimp & Jazz Festival, the name was changed to Shrimpfest in 2012! Past festivals have showcased national artists like Tim Reynolds, Elyse Testone, Marlena Smalls, and Bonerama & the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. Just remember- bring the family, but please leave the pets at home!

This week long event showcases locally harvested seafood, LowCountry cuisine, and rich history. One of the biggest attractions is the art! You'll discover over 100 artists from all over displaying and selling their work.

The Oyster Ghost Roast is nothing if not unique! You'll find zombie walks, a kids tent, and of course- a delicious oyster roast!

November

Steamed, fried, stewed- you can have em' however you like! You'll also enjoy live entertainment, a kids zone, Sports Lounge, and more.

Hey Victor, I'm from Oconee County and I could go to each of those and eat my way through. Nothing is better than SC seafood. Shrimp and grits and oyster roasts are my favorite! Thanks for the info.

Thank you for putting together such a comprehensive list of festivals. Hopefully, the craziness in March and early April will not continue into May and beyond.
