Who Is At The Settlement Table

 home sweet home

Some agents chose not to be at their closings. That is not me.

Today we received information that allows our closings to take place and hopefully without too much delay.

But it looks like these settlements will be without me at the table.

The parties, at closing, are limited to those signing.

The public health guidelines, of course, will be followed,

a precaution to minimize potential Corona exposure.

Real Estate agents, lenders, and family members are not to attend.

To be a part of the actual closing, we will use our phones on speaker.

Buyers and sellers may be separate for signing.

How are settlements being handled in your area?

This is such good information to know, Margaret. I have been trying to reach my closer for the past two days to find out how closings will be handled, but last I heard they were going to try to do all mail outs. I'll see if I can find out.

Morning Margaret.

Nothing has changed in my area.  We are still going to the closing table, as usual.  I do believe that will change soon.

Good morning, Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 closings are a "crap shoot" even with two people in a room at a table six feet away from each other.... they'd better wear gloves and a mask.... germs stay on paper for hours....

we have attorneys that handle the closings.... each party has an attorney....agents are NOT needed.... our people do not attend..... there's no decision making needed by an agent.... attorneys make any and all of those decisions with their client.

Margaret Rome Baltimore 410-530-2400 How do you do a walk thru prior to closing?  I will find out today how they are being handled, but we always do a walk thru prior to closing (settlement.)

Good morning Margaret. When active I was old fashined and attended the closing. Might rethink that in today's environment if I was still active. Enjoy your day!

Hello Margaret - as real estate practices nor only vary by state but by individual practitioner and now circumstances beyond our control, it is good to let consumers understand what they may expect.  Knowing upfront is one of those aspects of business relationships that make a difference.

I share your belief that it is important for agents to be present at the closing table with their clients.  There have been many times when an important question would come up where my input was necessary to facilitate the last steps in the close.

Hi Margaret- Thankfully with the technology we have today, it should help. It's interesting to see how the different areas are tackling this.
