The Wall Street Journal's got it in for Nudes .....

So here's the story ..... I was updating my links on my ActiveRain Profile & I noticed that one of my 'prized' links was no longer working. Of course, it's from when I was interviewed by the Wall Street Journal.

Original post that was written by Richard Strahm

What's left of an article in the WSJ

It is NOT FAIR

So trying to re-attach the original post from WSJ they now have that wonderful pay wall that will no longer show you the entire article or post. I'm not going to subscribe to a link regarding me! It's the principle that now you can't even read anything on the internet without having to pay. I belong to a few news feeds on my phone & it is getting to be more & more of a problem there too.

HEY, It's about ME so why should I pay?

I don't have to tell you how valuable a few of these old links can be for credibility. Who turns their lip up at the WSJ as a news source?  It's not the Peoria Picayune.

I am sure if you go through your own archives all those links are cut & disappeared unable to be used again. And it's not fair!

That's too bad, Lyn. I too get frustrated at the forced subscription in order to read an article now and again.  However, if you're featured in the article, I can see why it would be even more irritating.

Think about it Debb, we couldn't possibly subscribe to all the news feeds without going broke.

Now how annoying is that,? I hate it when that happens. I actually do go through my links every so often and test them out. Our local Charlotte Observer just announced you don't need to pay to read their news online... hell, I don't read their news in the paper that's delivered to our door everyday! Irritates me that 20-year long subscribers need to pay additionally to read on line.

Our local paper is doing that now. They put out articles on news sites & then you can't finish the article without sigining up.

Lyn,

Definitely, a colossal irritant, no doubt about it. I have referred to WSJ many times in our posts with links, and in those times we paid for it.  I would assume based on your info, that those links are dead now...Sorry to hear that.  A

The online version of our local paper allows non-subscribers to read a paragraph or two but beyond that, you have to pay.  It's pretty much been that from the beginning.

Lyn, I stopped advertising on their platform for the same reason, there are a couple other reasons too, I do not like how they spin news... Endre
