This Week...A Different Holy Week

Good morning, Kathy... no doubt it's a Holy Week most of us won't soon forget. I saw a news report this morning that my church in NYC (Church of the Heavenly Rest) was organizing a chalk egg drive on Fifth Avenue into Central Park. I miss that church and certainly missed my Good Friday service there which I faithfully attended when I lived in NYC.

Many will miss their traditional church services and family gatherings.

It is a different Holy Week. However, imagine how appreciative we will all be with the freedom to gather together again. There are many ways we can carry on tradition though. It will be fun to see all the creative solutions.

Hello Kathy - "different" is definitely a word to describe these times.  I, too, have noticed different things while out and about(albeit such ventures are much more limited).  

It definitely is a different kind of week, but still very holy and I am loving it.

What a lovely post!  I have enjoyed the creativity of the solutions that abound in virtual get togethers.  We still have some social interraction with our neighbors from a 6 foot distance...I watched our next door neighbor talking to her sister, and her daughter.  Then the three of them took a walk with the daughter's dog towards the salt marshes...so thankful for all that space...LOL A

You are so right when it comes to this year's Easter celebration. It will be like no other. Unfortunately...

This Easter will not be normal but we will watch church services on TV and make a ham just for the two of us and have lots left over.

Kathy-I am used to being by myself even on holidays so that part won't be any different now. But life is different in many other ways but we are safe and that is most important. Happy Easter to you and family.

Happy Easter to you!  Easter is usually quiet here, once in a blue moon year we'll go out, but usually being just us Liz will cook up a couple of Cornish game hens and the dogs will stare at us hoping for an accidental drop of the entire plate.

I will miss our Easter morning brunch this year. Easter egg hunt too.

Hoping we can reschedule sooner than later. It's all so unknown...when we will all be together once again.

Hi Kathy I hope you and Larry are out on one of  your neighborhood walks right now!  It is fun looking at architecture and landscaping of neighbors, we do that as well. And in the process Barney meets his neighbors and everyone has a good time.  And oh how I smiled when I saw the sidewalk chalk art. That's what we did as kids - and usually at Easter time is when we began, weather permitted.  Wonderful memory.  Happy Easter! Soon we will all be back together with family and friends.

Not much has changed around my house other than I have not been able to hug my only grandson. The kids will be coming for Easter tomorrow so we will be able to enjoy each other without getting too close. There are only 5 of us. Normally, I would invite 2 sets of our older neighbors but not this year.  I will be bringing dinner to them though.  

Kathy this will certainly be a much different Easter than all past Easters, but what it represents will still be the same, and as important a day as ever before.

Like you, Easter is a time when family gets together and enjoys each other's company.  That's not happening this year.  But, a vision of a big family celebration is percolating in my head once this isolation ends.

I really missed Holy Week services.  I will miss Easter lunch with my family after church.  I'm profoundly sad.
