Oh Deer! Off to Lunch.

You know the deer are hungry when they are moving around in the daylight hours looking for food. I spotted this pair of does when I went to lunch today. It's always fun to see them in town... as long as they are not jumping through your window to get away from an unleashed dog or some other menace.

This was a pretty average winter as far as snowfall so it should not have been to bad for deer to find food. As you can see from this pair the one in the front fared a little better then the one in back. The limited amount of food available over the winter is one of the reasons a hunting season is needed. With no hunting season the herd would double almost yearly. Just imagine if we had a harsh winter and there were no hunting season. Deer would starve to death in great masses yet some people think this would be better then to have a hunting season.

Last of all here is the pond outside the zoo entrance as I saw it yesterday on my walk. Can you spot this mallards mate in the pic?

It is fun to spot them in town as long as they are not panicked Dr. Karen Lewis, Broker 954-2489149 . People always ask why I live here up North, this is one reason.

That is when they will jump threw a window or charge down a busy street Dr. Karen Lewis, Broker 954-2489149 . Mostly it brings harm to themselves.

Wonderful views.  Here in California, there are places where our "stay at home" orders are bringing wildlife into more urban settings.  It's kind of neat to see.

Bob "RealMan" Timm Waaaay back in the day, the deer in my neighborhood used to be so cheeky they understood where the Rotweilers' electronic fence barriers were. They'd wait just past the border until the dogs came in for the night and then have dinner. Lauren

MOrning Bob.

We had, hopefully, our last freeze last night.  Everything is turning green, flowers are blooming.  What I'm looking forward to is our local Farmer's Market opening, should happen next week, or early in May.

Myrl Jeffcoat so the deer are disobeying the stay at home order. I love it. It would be fun to know if they are worshiping their Creator as well .

Glad I could bring that to light Endre Barath, Jr. . BTW with all the stay at home crap I'm making good use of the tape deck .

Hello Bob - while I don't participate, I understand the value of hunting.  My Dad enjoyed it thoroughly.  It wasn't as if he didn't try, that's for sure.

James Dray we are still having lows in the teens and worse. By the end of this week we are supposed to be "normal" with highs back in the 50's. Yesterdays high was 24.

Bob,

We had deer on our property in Los Angeles, and we fenced off the parts that had flowers.  They were welcome to what was growing below.  I had a horn of one that was dropped, and kept it as a souvenir.  In Napa, they jumped the fence and ate all my budding roses, so we had to build it taller...I see them here also in the wine country, and on ranches.  A

They have become a problem in our garden as well Ron and Alexandra Seigel . One neighbor quit gardening (and she had a huge garden) and another put in a 12' fence so now they come over and trash our little garden.

Hi Bob,

Nice photo's and post. We live up on a mountain so we have lots of deer in our yard, eating our cedars and flowers. These deer are in city limits so they are doubling like crazy. The only predators they have are the coyotes and cars.

Same here Steve Higgins . Minot has several coolies running through it and they hold a lot of wildlife.
