Our winter utility costs are routinely rated by BG&E as better than our “energy efficient neighbors” because we upgraded the insulation in the attic and garage after we moved in which made a big difference in the comfort and utility costs for our home. Our average monthly gas and electric bill ranges from $140 to $200 which is very good for a house this size. The water and sewer bill is very inexpensive at $40 every three months.
WHAT THE SELLER LOVES
When we first saw our new home at 747 White Oaks Ave we loved the layout! The guest suite in the lower level is perfect for out of town guests. Our house is full of light, has tons of storage, a private backyard and fantastic proximity to Patapsco State Park.
Our neighborhood is nestled at the entrance of Patapsco State Park; we were really attracted to the wooded setting and the knowledge that it would not ever be developed.
What we love about our home is the private backyard, listening to the neighborhood kids congregate on the swing set, great neighbors and being able to walk /run/bike to Patapsco State Park.
We also love our large, remodeled kitchen with its HUGE island and our recently renovated master bath. We love how quiet the neighborhood is! We are on a cul de sac off a dead end street and get no through traffic. We feel very safe with the kids out and about in the neighborhood.
LOVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
In the Patapsco Woods neighborhood, we’ve met lots of wonderful families as well as residents who have been here from the beginning. Our cul de sac is a wonderful place for the kids to get outside, run around and play. They had a huge neighborhood get together last fall and snow days are always fun too! In the spring, the neighborhood does an annual yard sale and dumpster day which is great to see everyone and do some decluttering. During the recent coronavirus crisis, the neighbors continued to bond (socially distant of course) by decorating sidewalks with chalk, doing “bear hunts” in windows for the kids and one neighbor even set up an Easter Egg tree to give the kids something to do on daily walks.
LIFE IS GREAT IN 21228
Some of the things we love about the Catonsville community are Hillcrest Elementary, Catonsville Presbyterian Child Care Center, local soccer leagues, dance classes with Miss Lisa above the Knights of Columbus, a wonderful girl scout cluster and all the activities at the YMCA. We've met so many wonderful people/families and have made lots of new friends. Our favorite neighborhood restaurant is Catonsville Gourmet; they are one of the best seafood restaurants in all of Baltimore!
The grocery store we use the most is the Giant on Wilkens and the Wegmans in Columbia. It’s great to have so many options relatively close by such as Aldi, Lidl, Sprouts, etc. We moved to Catonsville because it had a great sense of community, there were lots of local shops/restaurants on main street, it has easy access to get into Baltimore and the airport, there are tons of parks and trails nearby and it’s also relatively easy to get down to Washington, DC.
We have been fortunate to have had wonderful experiences at both Catonsville Presbyterian Child Care Center (CPCFCCC) and Hillcrest Elementary School. The girls attended preschool at CPCFCCC and then were able to go to before/after care once they started elementary school. They’ve had wonderful teachers at both schools and had the flexibility to participate in many of the Hillcrest afterschool programs such as EPIK Kids in Action and Drawing Zoo. The public library is close by and they have lots of programs for kids both during the year and in the summer. During the summer, Irvine Nature Camp has excellent programs that both of our girls love.
