Wake Up And Smell The Coffee
A bit of a different path, found me walking in another direction than I typically take and I passed a condominium building where the unique scent of coffee was quite strong. Definitely Distinctive. Presumably(in my mind)it was freshly brewed. Although I am not a regular coffee drinker, I do appreciate the aroma.
It wasn't just that wisp of a whiff but other things seemed present as well. Details suddenly became more obvious. Small and not-so-small. I noticed and saw more. Things I had observed in the past suddenly took on a new significance.
Rather than look for an additional meaning behind waking up and smelling the coffee or going off on a search for Mrs. Olsen from those Folger's Coffee commercials from the 1960s and 1970s, I once again turned ro the words of others on the subject of awareness. It felt right. Like a morning cup of coffee seems right for some. Here's what I found:
Change is certain.
Peace is followed by disturbances;
departure of evil men by their return.
Such recurrences should not constitute occasions for sadness
but
realities for awareness,
so that one may be happy in the interim.
Percy Bysshe Shelley
