This is a response to an article in The Connecticut Post: Home sales, prices plummet
We deal with the facts about the housing market, and not add to the confusion with spin causing mis-perception.
Professionals who dispute the numbers from The Warren Group, also need to admit that many Connecticut Real Estate Professionals rely on The Warren Group information everyday for facts and figures.
A couple of examples:
The Greater Fairfield MLS Tax Data comes from The Warren Group. The (CMLS) Greater Fairfield MLS provides municipal tax and sales data for 36 communities in Western Connecticut. This information is gathered by the Warren Group, the publishers of the "Commercial Record" trade paper. The updated information is sent to the (CMLS)Greater Fairfield MLS once the information is certified by the state.
The tax database also includes sales transactions, warrantee deeds, quiet titles, etc. The sales database is updated every six weeks depending on the timeliness of the municipality.
Also, the Connecticut Statewide MLS integrated the tax data from all Connecticut towns from The Warren Group.
The above examples are used by thousands of members (real estate agents) that belong to real estate offices (big and small) through-out Connecticut.
From the Warren Group "About" Page:
"...Know how important timely and reliable real estate data and financial information is to your business. With more than 135 years of experience collecting and publishing real estate-focused news and public records, it's no wonder that most real estate and lending professionals, marketers, home buyers and sellers rely on our products to keep track of the New England market whether they are local or national businesses."
This transparency may help the public make good decisions during these interesting economic times.
