Update on COVID-19, the economy, and the housing market

I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. COVID-19 continues to dominate every aspect of our lives, both here in the U.S. and across the globe, and even though it can be difficult to stay up to date with the latest changes, it is my goal to keep you informed.

Here are a few updates about how the coronavirus continues to impact the economy and the housing market:

• More companies are adapting to the pandemic economy in creative and unorthodox ways. This article from the World Economic Forum lays out why and how some companies are adapting to the crisis better than their peers, and how we should continue to use technology to augment, not replace, people.
• There are some promising signs around the world about what things may look like in our country and economy in the coming months. Crowds are returning in China, countries are slowly letting people out of their homes in Europe, and more data is being compiled by scientists that shows promising signs for the U.S.
• All of this time at home has probably caused you to think a little more about what you do and don’t like about your property. Realtor.com recently conducted a survey that shows, among other things, that more homeowners are starting home improvement projects and dreaming of additional square footage.

As best it can, the real estate industry will continue to operate during these challenging times. Agents all over the country are taking precautions to keep themselves and their clients safe as they navigate transactions, interacting with clients remotely when possible, limiting the number of people who come to a home’s showings, and/or leveraging virtual home tours to replace in-person contact as much as possible.

Also, there are some promising signs around Austin. For example: We've had 629 homes sold and 799 pending.. all in the past 7-days! Central Texas - We have lift-off!
