Oh how I LOVE THIS post. I don't think this topic can be discussed enough.

What is SHOWN on the internet is the first impression a seller might just have of you listing... a bad photo might just make a buyer just move on EVEN BEFORE stepping foot into the property.

THANKS Cheryl

OK, Photographers, this is my project:

Identify all posts in Photography Group that qualify as "Photography 101" material; i.e. tutorials, tips and techniques, basic photography theory and concepts ... and place links to these posts all in one place, a sort-of "index",  like this:

Photography 101

You can bookmark the index, or, if you'll glance at the left-column of the Photography Group home page, you'll notice there is an now active (easy to find I hope) link to the index.

(WooHoo!  I didn't realize one could place HTML code in the descrpition box)

So... if anyone would like to suggest other posts to be included in the index, please just add a comment here.  I know I have probably missed many, many good tutorial-type posts.

Once the index is complete, I thinking I'll remove those posts from the featured slots .... or maybe have them in featured position for a few days, then rotate them out, so the featured stuff is always the newest freshest stuff.

Thoughts or suggestions, anyone?  And don't forget to comment with the posts you want included!

Cheryl- OMG how did I miss this.  I have most of the posts bookmarked already but what I great resource to have them all in the same place.  Thanks you so much for taking the time to put this together.

Would you consider posting this in Stage It Forward...  I know a lot of the stagers would love some photo tips.  I'm trying to get them to all join the photography group - this might motivate them.

BLESS YOUR HEART! My camera has all the bells and whistles and all I do is point and shoot. I need binoculars to find the options and an hour lead time before I need to take a picture. Thank you for putting this all together!!! You are bookmarked.

Cheryl, maybe consider de prioritizing some of the articles but keeping this list always at the top? There are so many star articles some may have to go back to the second page just to see if anything new has arrived.

Just a thought. :)

My theory behind the large number of starred posts:  I was using the "featured" function to separate Photography releated posts from non-photography posts.  That way stuff related to Photography was forced to the top in date-order; and non-photography items appeared below those.  Obviously not the ideal solution, and I'm open to suggestions.

I mentioned once to Matt the idea of being able to create sections within a group.  AR may eventually get that function.  If we do, I was thinking of separate sections for Photography Discussion, Sharing Photos, Software Discussion, and and a fourth for "Everything Else".

Lisa,  actually, the list is an ongoing project.   Whenever one of the members posts a blog that is related to learning the basics of pgotography (or photoshop!), I add it to the list.  So I don't think it would qualify as a "Featured Post".

Now that we are moving into a busier season for both agents and photographers (for photogs, think weddings) ... our photo tutorial blog output may slow down a bit.  But don't give up!  We'll get there.   I've also created a "back-up" list at http://www.myphotogroup.com

Cheryl,

I just posted Kodak v705 Tutorial IV - Picture Modes.  It has a link to the Kodak site for the majority of the information, since there is no need to retype the long description of the 22 additional picture modes.  Kodak did a good job at explaining them.
