Lanai Cat Sanctuary

- Serving a Need, Helping a Cause,

Providing Hope for Our Feline Friends!

Lanai Cat Sanctuary started with an idea and a hope for ending feral feline suffering. The sanctuary rescues cats from protected areas where native and endangered ground-nesting birds habituate as well as from Lanai City, which has over 3,000 resident persons. The Sanctuary,  home to more than 600 cats since 2015, receives funding primarily from vacationers who visit the sanctuary and give support to their mission. Surviving as a non-profit without visitors due to Covid-19, has been a challenge and needs your compassion and support to keep this amazing organization operating and serving the community.

Governed by a board of directors, Lanai Cat Sanctuary is a 501c3 nonprofit led by responsible, ethical and experienced leadership in animal welfare and believes that cats deserve to live their best life possible.

Lanai Cat Sanctuary was built from the ground up from what was once dry brushland to a lush, 3.5 acre feline fantasy. By giving feral cats a home for life, the sanctuary also protects the island’s many endangered bird species.

Feral cats and other non indigenous animals have decimated the endemic Hawaiian bird population since the arrival of Westerners in the late 18th century. Lanai being one of the least populated islands is also home to many endangered Hawaiian birds.
