To buy a home in Seattle
you better prepare to do battle;
with multiple offers
and money in coffers
and nerves that don’t easily rattle.
The home down the street was for sale
the neighbors learned through the mail;
the sellers liked skiing
so much they were fleeing
to the snow-covered mountains of Vail.
There was in Kirkland a condo
the owner said: sell it pronto.
I don’t like the rain
it’s really a pain
I’ll move to the African Congo.
A home to be inspected
by the owner severely neglected
was on the market for so many days -
cancelled, re-listed in so many ways
that a sale was no longer expected.
The sign on the lawn said “for sale”
It sat there through hot and through hail;
covered with snow,
the market was slow
and the sale grew increasingly stale.
A first time buyer from Kent
was fed up with paying the rent;
so he bought a home
with an FHA loan
and earnest money well spent.
An owner was selling
a darn dreary dwelling;
made minor repairs
and covered the stairs
with carpet – so there was no telling.
The offers on my neighbor’s home
were so low to make him moan:
”I’ve made the decision,
we’ll build that addition
first with a lien than a loan.”
There was an old home in Bellevue
with windows installed like brand new;
the agent was selling the dwelling
praising the home on the phone but not telling
that the home was lacking a lake view.
