Will Hamm hi Will... schools are not reopening here for this academic year. They are expected to reopen in August, but probably somewhat earlier in August than normal to make up for lost time this spring.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS hi Paul... I think it remains to be seen how successful all this on-line learning is in the end. Our daughter who is a college professor in St Louis has had a heck of a time finishing up her semester... so many students who have varying degrees of skill with computers, some who don't have internet, etc.

I was talking to a public school teacher two nights ago and she said she's retiring because she spends more time with fewer students and no cooperation from the parents. I have seen other school districts giving out iPads; to try to promote online education but time will tell...

does your daughter teach at George Washington University in St. Louis

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS hi Paul... Lisa teaches at Jefferson College, but she has also taught at all the major St Louis Universities during summers for the past 20 years. She's been named "Educator of the Year" in Missouri several times now.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® thanks, Sheri... the "right" schools make such a difference in neighborhood values. As in any large city, we have some outstanding schools and we have some really pathetic schools.

Lise Howe hi Lise... I still have to do the middle and elementary school updates. I do this every year... they are evergreen posts in one sense, but also generate a lot of views with each update.

Nina, the school district usually IS a determining factor, even when your kids have moved out.   There is always high demand for a good school district.

Joan Cox hi Joan... we have some areas in Charlotte where the schools are not necessarily the best, but homes still sell at a premium -- mostly because the majority of people who buy here buy for location and send their kids to private school. But these are the exception rather than the rule.

WOW! Nina Hollander this is really good information, especially for locals and relo's too! Flower Mound only has two High Schools divided by two Zip Codes. You sure cover a lot of territory in Charlotte. Many buyers will be grateful for this information.

Hi Nina:

This is great information, especially for people who do not know the area. Schools are typically an important criterion for buyers, and it's not always just because they have school age kids.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP hi again, Patricia... people are always amazed at to how large a territory I cover (as do many other Charlotte based agents). There are days when I've driven through two states, at least three counties, and multiple towns! And I'm still within 15 miles of my starting point.

Rebecca Gaujot, Realtor® good morning, Rebecca... the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system is one of the largest in the nation. And in additon we have Union County School System, which is quite large, Fort Mill School District, York County School District, Lancaster County School District... and I've just scratched the surface!

Good morning (05/21/2020) Nina Hollander . If we were going to list the top 20 high schools we would have to say "in the State of ND" . I think the best way to check on schools is to ask parents who have children attending them. Experience has taught me that some rankings are based on teacher pay  and other teacher comfort benefits and have nothing to do with the quality of education your child receives.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... we are a densely populated region so we have lots of school districts and lots of schools. I've found that niche.com does an excellent job of analyzing the schools for various aspects to get to their ratings.
