Tim Russert gave our city a face and a voice, and there was no greater Buffalo supporter. Tim Russert was honest and decent and hardworking - Tim Russert was Buffalo, and Tim was Buffalo's favorite son. His loss is felt acutely by all who knew him and by so many who never had the pleasure of meeting him.

We all harbored a secret hope that Tim Russert might be back in town during Buffalo Homecoming - that he might just turn up at BTEC or the Career Fair Friday morning, drop by Arts in the Park that afternoon, make a cameo appearance at the Block Party Saturday night or join us for Brunch on Sunday...

Tim Russert was known for doing this sort of thing, and we had our fingers crossed. Now we know Tim Russert will not be with us or with his family on that weekend or on any other.

Hi Colleen, I about fell out of my chair when they announced his death on the news last night. What a tremendous loss to us. He was such a class act. Watching the various tributes about him last night and this morning certainly brings out what a great man he was.

Karen -- very much so!

Dave -- you just about fell out of your chair, most Buffalonians are walking around in shock.  He made us proud.

Norma -- and he was from Buffalo!

Colleen, When I saw the news yesterday my heart sank. I really always enjoyed meet the press. I never knew all of the stuff he was involved with but after seeing the special yesterday on MSNBC Buffalo and the entire country really lost someone special

I was also upset to hear the news about Tim. I watched him all the time, I really like the way he could get to the point. He will be missed.

Tim Russert - Rest in Peace

This guys made politics tolerable to people who couldn't stand politics. He was a guy you knew would ask the good questions to either side of the political map. Great for the debates. Sunday's Meet the Press show was fantastic all the time. And especially this year as he had one presidental runner after another on each week and he did his homework on all of them and had the hard questions for them and the quotes of them ready. Never seemed to me to be any lighter on one then another! That's good work!

I respected his opinions adn i can't say that about many other news reporters/analysts.

I enjoyed his work on tv and have much respect for him. Good Man.

Colleen, We have family in Buffalo, in fact my brother in law was married there and his wife's entire family is originally from that area, and Tim Russert often came up in coversation.  The news was utterly shocking and a reminder that we must all live each day to its fullest.   I know that he was well known for that.

Colleen, the face of the presidential election will be a little different this year without him around.

This is Father's Day weekend and I believe that he wrote a very popular book about him and his dad that you might want to read if you have not read it yet.

Colleen -- I was shocked and saddened to hear about Tim Russert.  I have watched him for years and have great respect for his abilities and perspective.  He was the finest political reporter I have had the pleasure of watching and struck me as a genuine and decent human being.  I wish I could have known him.  The world suffered a devastating loss yesterday. . .my heart goes out to him wife, son and friends.
