This Week...Ba-Ba-Bam!
What a week of thunderstorms, lightning, and tornado warnings!
In case of a thunderstorm, stand in the middle of the fairway and hold up a one iron. Not even God can hit a one iron. Lee Trevino
On Sunday night we had a terrible storm. There was a lightning strike that made Larry and I almost jump out of our chairs. It was so close to the house, we looked around the house just in case something had been hit and Larry went outside to see if anyone’s house may have been hit and on fire.
I get my best ideas in a thunderstorm. I have the power and majesty of nature on my side. Ralph Steadman
Then minutes later we heard sirens that were close and then stopped very quickly near our house. It turns out that lightning had hit our neighbor’s tree and split part of it and then a fire started in the attic. His son put it out, firetrucks came, and no one was hurt.
Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is lightning that does the work. Mark Twain
On Wednesday afternoon, we had another bad thunderstorm and we lost power. (as did many others in the city) and had a small casualty in our back yard. More on that next week, but suffice it to say no one was injured.
Be the lightning. Even if it’s for a second, turns the night into day. Unknown
I can handle the rain and have come to love the sound of thunder. I don’t even mind high winds...but lightning? I’ve seen what it can do and would be very happy if it stayed away from me.
Have a safe and lightning-free weekend.
