Waimea, Kauai, HI Neighborhood Information and Market Report

The Waimea Neighborhood

Waimea is a beautiful town on the southwestern part of the main island of Kauai in Kauai County, Hawaii. The town is mostly rural, but there is still a good selection of outback tourism activities, nature trails, and other offbeat attractions for visitors to enjoy. The town's name is locally translated to "Red Water" and is based on the iconic red hue of the sand on the beaches in the area. The Waimea River travels from the mountains to the north and meets the ocean in the Waimea Bay. Half of the community is situated in the river basin and serves as the town center where you can find the hospital, two grocery stores, and a bank.

If you're looking to purchase a home on the island, real estate in this town is an assortment of newer developments and older communities built back in the plantation-era of the island. There's an excellent selection of Hawaiian-style single-family homes and more traditional suburban houses in the region. There's also a good mix of one and two-story properties providing ample options for buyers who prefer to live in a one-floor household. If you want to get more information on available listings in this area, please don't hesitate to give us a call.

I have driven through Weimea town on visits to Kauai. We have stayed at the Sheraton in Kapaa several times. We really enjoyed our stays and visiting the area.
