Sort of a question...but one I need to ask many of the agents in my office. Maybe I should ask are you afraid of success?

I ask the question because success in large part comes from the work you put in to be successful. Many agents get a few listings, have a couple of working buyers, then they get so busy they stop doing anything that might keep the train rolling.

I see the stressed out look on their face...the "I can't keep up with the business!" rolls off their lips, and they are done until they can get it under control.

Four weeks later one of the two buyers decide not to move, one of the three listings expires, one sells, and one is just lingering as the only open business they have. Now they begin to panic because they have no buyers, no sellers (except for their lingering listing), and they have not done anything in four weeks to keep the business going! It seems that they may have thwarted their success...to catch up with present business. Maybe they are afraid that they could not keep up with too much success?

Folks...this is all about systems. You must have a system in place to handle buyer leads, seller leads, active buyers, and active sellers. You will never be able to keep up with the potential your business has if you continue to follow the same unsuccessful path! If you do not put your systems into place you will always be on the sales roller coaster!!!

Thats the best thing about being in our business the more work you put in the better the payout, the less work the cheaper.  So it all boils down to personal accountability, don't blame the market, don't blame the leads, don't blame your co-workers...its all about you.

Justin, great answer...I really wonder if these agents are scared of success and they avoid doing...too much business???

I do have lots of systems in place but I still find the business to be very feast/famine.  My mentor years ago told me to enjoy the downtime though and the longer I am in the business the more I appreciate her words of advice.

Marchel, we plan our down time. When I want it...I just need to set myself up for it. Vacations are down time and we schedule them for the year on Jan 1st.

You are so right about the sales roller coaster and how most agents work. I've talked to a few of my mentorees and their attitude when they get busy is that they will get the money then use the money to build their business, but they never plan for the "WHAT IFs" when they don't close. (They haven't learned don't cash the check until it is in your account)
